We did very little today to prepare for Tech. If we have to play Braylon Mitchell, Carr, Gaines much we'll get burned.

I don't recall Tolliver out there that much, which might be good that he wasn't thrown at often.

Our LB's are really really bad at coverage. We might be best off playing dime coverage and cheating safeties up.

We kept the CB's 5-6 yards off the LOS, which lets WR's be at full speed when they reach our CB's who are just starting to get moving. It puts them a step behind consistently, but I'm scared to see what kind of space a good WR could create against us with true bump and run coverage.

Agree.

Coverage is not there. Linebackers are lost in coverage and safeties don't make plays.

The middle of our defense 10-20 yards deep is still wide open for teams to hit quick posts and crossing routes.

Good. I watched on TV and I don't think they said his name once after a play. Made me question how much he played.

I'll admit, I've been silently more worried about the Texas Tech game than most Hog fans I talk to. We haven't had even a mediocre pass defense since 2006, and that was before the spread concepts seeped their way into the SEC.

The only real thing that I took away from this game in terms of concerns is that they dropped a ton of passes, and their QB had more time to throw on rollouts than I'd like. Plus, there were a few wide open receivers that he flat out missed, and they were dropping what he did out on target.

Of course, many of these plays were against newcomers and second and third stringers getting blowout reps, so it's difficult to glean a lot from games like these. But yeah, I'm always whenever we play a team with either a mobile QB or a spread attack.

UCA straight bullied them last week. I don't trust our secondary, but if UCA's O-line could push them around like that, I think we'll blow them off the ball and put their asses in the dirt. Long running drives is the best D we have.

agreed.

I was glad to see Beck and Dannenhauer actually get some snaps. Realistically we need those guys to play 5-8 snaps a game or at least be on PAT. Deacon got some snaps and I'm not sure if McClure did or not, but we're going to need those guys to be able to spell the OL starters on these long drives we'll need to keep the ball out of good passing team's hands.

I've said it before and I'll say it again -- if I'm an opposing coach, I'd line up exclusively in empty or 10 personnel throw it every down against us until we prove we can stop it consistently.

The A&M and Tech games terrified me before the season, and I've seen nothing from our pass defense to assuage my concerns.

They may throw for 500 yards and we may run for 500.

Not downing the kid, but McClure has been such a disappointment for me. I had such high hopes for him given that he was a two time JUCO All American, and he can't get on the field.

Their run defense was a problem last year so they signed 4 Juco defensive tackles. They aren't panning out thus far. Our running backs are licking their chops right now.

I agree... I believe we will run all over them. And their passing hasn't looked too great tonight against mediocre coverage, which I am sure we will make look like world beaters

Their penalties and mental mistakes might offset our pitiful pass coverage.
