Wondering what everyone's opinion was of the first game and thoughts of Harris as the #2. My Takeaways
-Looks like we lost McGee for the season. That will be huge.
-Debose looked great returning the ball.
-Demarcus looked great. Very versatile. Good hands
-We have a four headed monster in the backfield.
-Driskel and Harris looked good. Lots of passes lots of deep balls.
-Worried about the O-line health still. Humphries limped out hurt once.
-Defense looked great. Fast and angry.
-Had some stupid penalties but all in all it went well.
-3rd down conversion needs some improvement.
-Redzone offense needs improvement. Most of our scores came on long plays which is good but we wont be able to settle for field goals against GA and FSU.

Hopefully Grier doesn't decide to transfer if Harris takes the #2 spot.

DJ Humphries out 2-3 weeks with chipped bone in ankle. McGee confirmed gone for the season broken tibia and fibula. Sucks for him hoping for a speedy recovery.

I wasn't impressed that much in the beginning. When Treon came on, that's when I knew. Can't wait to see them under the lights in person next week.

If you look at it in a nuts n bolts sense, you can see vast improvements all over the field on offense from blocking assignments to route running.

There is a completely different team and offense on the field right now.

Tyler Moore has concrete feet. Hopefully Rod Johnson can hold down the RT spot for a couple weeks until Chaz switches back. We can't afford anymore injuries at o-line. Maybe it was best we didn't play Idaho. UK next weekend will be a better test to see where we're at before the Gumps.

Dante Fowler is an absolute monster

I want to see more out of Bullard, Keanu Neal, Mike Taylor, & Morrison. If not, come on down Joey Ivie, Jerrad Davis, Anzalone, Mac, etc etc. The young guys are hungry and talented.

Loved how many young guys played today, especially on defense. Duke, Quincy, CJ, B-Powell, Caleb Brantley, Rod Johnson, Gerald Willis.....all freshmen

We have a kicking game this year. Frankie Velez

Clay Burton

Treon Harris

Brian Poole & Neiron Ball were all over the place today!!

Obviously feel terrible for Jake. Can he get another redshirt year (medical)? Or is he out of eligibility?

Did Maye play at all, or is he still hurt? How about Adam Lane? Marcell Harris? Alvin Bailey?

Didn't seem like we used our FB very often. Only noticed Hunter & Gideon a couple times. Is this to be expected, even with McGee gone for the year?

I don't care how we do it. Just get Kelvin & Demarcus the damn ball!!!!

Gotta rewatch the game, cause I was distracted quite a bit. Still haven't learned all the new numbers just yet. Overall, very happy with today's game and the direction of this team.

Didn't like how Jeff would start leaning forward before the snap on every running play, giving away what we were doing before the play even began. I'm sure we will fix that.

Also didn't like how Bryan Cox started jawing at one of EMU's injured players who was face down on the turf.

EMU is a terrible team and we can't get too excited or overly optimistic, but man I was impressed with our o-line (run blocking & pass protection).

And what a journey it has been for Andre Debose. So happy to see him out there playing well & having fun.

Clay Burton impressed me.
Sucks to lose Jake, wish him a speedy recovery.
We are loaded at running back.
Matt Jones is running like a full grown man.
Very good distribution to the receivers. I believe 10 different guys caught passes.
Driskel actually went through his progressions.

Looks like Velez is going to be a solid kicker.
Debose back is way bigger then I thought. Between his kick returns and punt returns we are gonna have some good starting field position.
The defense was just straight nasty all the way around.

I love offenses that take what the defense gives them. Thats one reason I am happy we are back in the spread. We did a little bit of everything on offense. Screens, deep shots, threw to the TE and the RB, Zone reads. We were 10 out of 20 on third downs and I bet thats the most conversions we have had in about 4 to 5 years.

I believe you are always eligible for a medical redshirt if your injury happens in the first 3 or 4 games of the year.

@ZachAbolverdi: Will Muschamp said in TV interview TE Jake McGee could be out for the season. He is eligible for sixth year with medical redshirt. #Gators

Kid did seem like a pretty knowledgeable blocker, tough loss for us and him, but at least we get him for another year.

Finch you must have watched different game or your eyes are very young. We came out firing the ball...even though Eastern Michigan was over matched...don't kid yourself...their DL played well considering the heat/humidity/score. They stacked a lot of defensive guys trying to stop us from running.

What this game showed was what I suspected for some time...that our WRs were going to wreck havoc on defenses this year. We have a stable of talent and D Rob & Fullwood are going to make it difficult for our opponents. The great news is that I feel our WRs will improve a lot as the year progresses.

Moving the chains and scoring will put a lot of pressure on teams we play when you factor in a nasty defense. UK will be good test and they are improved with Stoops getting hopes up in Lexington. The blue team will be throwing a lot since their run game isn't quite ready to take on UFs DL...I expect a few picks.

One of the things I really liked is that we were able to be unpredictable. In all honesty, I couldn't guess what we were going to do the entire game and I'm usually pretty auspicious in that regard.

This was leaps and bounds from where we were, even against EMU there was a different chemistry and productivity that I haven't seen in a long, long time.

For the first game with a new offense, 65 isn't anything to mock or condemn. We got it done in every facet and there wasn't a bad unit on the field.

Only one that might be mediocre is the Oline but as long as we keep up the playcalling to keep the defense guessing we'll be just fine.

For at least the first quarter, I was pretty bored watching the dink and dunk passing game and the screens. I went in expecting 50 yd passes from the get go. I liked how Jeff took some shots later on though. I really enjoyed Treon. The 2 tds he threw had giggling like a school girl. I've been dying to see that type of play for a while.

Thats what spread offenses do though. They hit you all the day with the short stuff on the perimeter and up the middle to set you up for the deep shots and outside runs later in the game. I know alot of people are upset about the first drive only getting a field goal, but that was a highly efficient drive.

I just liked the way the entire team came out seemingly with this attitude of "We're pissed off at everybody, and we're gonna take it out on EMU".

Seriously, the whole team came out and played mad. They played angry.

I don't think we've seen that type of attitude since the 2012 FSU game.

Exactly -- the only way you can have any productivity in the long game is if they're afraid of the short game. Those passes are essentially a supplement of the run game: trying to get it out to receivers quick to make the other team cheat up. Treon showed this later -- he had two one on one opportunities and two touchdowns.....

How do you think those opportunities were created?

olemc is on the money.

Finch why don't you grab a good Sunday newspaper that has college football boxscores in it. Boxscores btw are the stats for games played and usually the top 25 teams will be in boxscores. Now look at them and count how teams lost that had the most rushing yds. How many did you find?

You don't win games by throwing bombs...oh it is entertaining and all. Against EMU we could have..but we were trying to do more than just win...we need a lot of game reps for young players and even a few older ones. Goal met.

The offense we will operate from will dink and dunk to wear defenses down and if we can get 70+ snaps against SEC teams we have chance to wear their DL/LBs down....then open up run game against a tired defense.

We are still going to win SEC games because of our defense...make no mistake. When we do have 3 and out we have the ability to let our defense keep our opponents in check and get the ball back to us. Dantre Fowler didn't play many reps and one of the most promising things on defense is Alex MacAllisters development as a DE. I have seen him up close and personal...hew came to UF as a tall rangy 6'6" 220 lb (if that) kid that was skin and bones. Now that he has added 25 lbs he will be a force. Dude has HUGE wingspan. Next year he may be a starter if Dante leaves early.

Oh yes, I was super impressed with the defense.

I think EMU didn't get a first down till late in the 2nd Q.

Also glad our freshman in the secondary played really well too.

And it was really great to see Neiron Ball have a game like that after all he's been through.
