Some of yall are bummed it's a bye. Other's are despondent over the SEC slate. Not this guy. No stress and an underrated football slate.

14 USC @ 13 Stanford 3:30 ABC (may be the game of the day)
GT @ Tulane 4:00 ESPNnews ( )
7 Michigan State @ 3 Oregon 6:30 FOX (goes without explanation)
ECU @ 21 South Carolina 7 ESPNU (ECU runs the Aggy offense so that should be fun to watch plus it's our duty to scout USCe)
Michigan @ 16 Notre Dame 7:30 NBC (Last time this game is played for a while)
BYU @ Texas 7:30 FS1 (Texas has booted half their team, Ash their QB is probably done with football and BYU could be ready to upset Texas...again)
Virginia Tech @ 8 Ohio State 8 ESPN (Kenny Fuller, man. JT Barrett and Urbz hopefully go into a whole after this. Seriously, how the frick are the 13 pt favorites?)

- And the hilarious matchup of the week: the fighting milk toasts @ Toledo. That's right. Mizzou @ Toledo. Noon, ESPN.

- Upset Alert: Outside of ECU and Tulane I'd say watch out for Eastern Washington @ Washington. UDub only beat Hawaii by 1 last week and EWU has pulled off a few FBS wins. Or one. I forgot who. Whatever.

- If you hate football Vandy @ Ole Miss is on ESPN at 4:30

- Weather watch: Fingers crossed UF is left blue balled 2 weeks in a row by weather because I am an a-hole.

Got 2 boston butts smokin and a smattering of 16 beers to choose from. Gameday comes on at 9. Gonna be a good day.

No doubt about it. While you are a BIT more excited about the slate than I am, I will be camped out in front of the big screen to see:

USC/Stanford
Michigan St./Oregon
ECU/SouCar
Michigan/Notre Dame
Va.Tech/Ohio State.

With the new playoff system we should see a couple of these games play a roll in the final four. I suspect this could be the best chance for Michigan State to lose. However, if they (Michigan St.) can slip up and lose one more it could be the catalyst to the Big 10 being left out of the pic. I think Ohio State will lose a couple (or more)...same for Michigan, and Nebraska. IF the Big 10 is left out it leaves an excellent opportunity for the SEC to sneak a second team into the playoff. (Us or the PAC Whatever)

I just love football. One thing I regretted as a student was not seeing as much football. I went to every game, home or away, save maybe 2-3 road games and I had to rely on TVs at tailgates. Bye weeks were always my favorite cause I could relax and watch everyone play.

A lot of people around here, not us obviously, watch only Georgia or their SEC team and then SEC football. Maybe flip on another game but shake their head that it "ain't SEC." I love all college football. And worst of it all? I like B1G football almost the most. I'm psyched for today.

And this is how I describe BGEs. They're like Starbucks, Apple, and any other cult following. Not AS bad as YETI (frickin yea, I need a $450 cooler like I need a tumor), but they're pretty damn expensive and they have plenty of cheaper counterparts. That being said, like those aforementioned companies they have a fierce, cult-like following and for BGE I am 100% onboard. I have yet to have a bad experience. shite, you could put a turd on an egg and it'll end up coming out fantastic. They're also extremely versatile. You can cook a pizza, smoke anything ya want or sear a stake. They have awesome range and come with a lifetime warranty that I am about to take advantage of for the grill box.

And nice eye, bwood.

I remember as a kid watching Bowl games all day long. Penn State, Nebraska, USC, Texas, Ohio State.

I saw Woody Hayes deck the kid that had intercepted a pass against them. I saw Johnny Rodgers, Cappelletti, George Rodgers, Herschel, Bo, Pat Sullivan and Terry Beasley, and on and on....BUT, I gotta admit it has to be a good matchup for me to watch an out of conference game. I can't watch San Diego State vs. University of Hawaii. Just can't do it.

Tennessee plays at noon on secn I think. They'll run away with it obviously, but I didn't get to watch them last Sunday so I'm a little curious to see how they look.

And there is no doubt I'll be putting down copious amounts of miller lites.

I definitely fall into the cult like following for them. You almost have to try to frick something up to make it come out bad.

And the counterparts work well too and are a good bit cheaper. The main difference I've noticed is ones like the big steel keg are a bitch to cool down so if you overshoot temp you aren't getting back down to what you want. And you can't maintain the temps I like for Boston butt with the steel ones (I try and stay about 195-200 for ~16 hours or so then bump to 250 for the last hour or two, no real reason aside from its just what works for me).

I'm kicking myself for not doing Boston butt or ribs today since no UGA game, I guess it'll just be jalapeño and bacon stuffed burgers hah.

If you like low scoring, defensive slugfests, this is for you. VT hasn't had a good QB since Tyrod Taylor left and OSU has a bit more firepower.

Michigan/Notre Dame

This could end up being the most exciting game of the day. Devin Gardner was awesome against ND last year and both teams will really want it because it is the last scheduled game in the series (which is a damn shame, there's no reason why these two shouldn't play every season given the close proximity of the two schools). Bombs away in a shootout but I think ND will kick one too many red zone FGs and Michigan gets a much, much needed big win.

These will almost be the exact same game. MSU and Stanford are basically the same team, while Oregon and USC are their polar opposites. I'll take power football in both games.

Are you maintaining that temp with regular charcoal or does the egg have some sort of thermostatically controlled propane or electric burner? I smoke a lot of butts on a 55 gallon drum with a side burner and I like to keep the temp between 180 and 200 for 14-20 hours (depends on the butt) but I am constantly having to add charcoal...which means I have to stay with the grill for 20 or more hours at times. I like the egg but it looks like it would be tough to add fuel with meat on....

I usually finish mine off in the oven for a few hours....sort of cheating but no one ever complained....

They looked pretty good. Utah State lost almost everyone from last years team but Tenn pretty much shut them down.

Oh yea, the egg is great about temp flexibility and speed. I am keeping mine around 225 and probably going 250 the last hour or 2.

I've never had to add charcoal to the egg. I do like to take everything off and add more wood chunks, though

I watched them last sunday like hata. They looked real good but, shite, idk how much of that was Utah State failing to meet my expectations. They are definitely under better leadership these days, though. Worley looked a LOT better.

Also, GAMEDAY

I had to go drop some stuff off in Gwinnett and spent the night so I'm about to grab some breakfast and a cup of coffee and head back to Atlanta. Park it on the couch and turn on gameday or secn (don't they have a gameday show?) start cracking about 11 and let the day ride

I think the SECN does have one. I wanted to check it out but the SEC slate is so shitty I don't want that to be my first impression.

And people hate on gameday, ESPN, and shite but I love this.

I would crack a brew now but, hell, I'm not trying to repeat last saturday. My liver still hurts. People headed here probably around noon so maybe that's go time. We'll see. I hit up the beer growler and have a good variety left over from last weekend so I'm excited. Only thing missing is a crisp, autumn temp.

And WG, if you have XM you can get gameday on radio

I blew a paycheck at whole foods. 2 butts and then for lunch I have a few of my crew coming early and we've got bison burgers and bison hot dogs on deck. I'm kind of giddy cause I get to grill 2 things at once.

Last night I pan seared a bison flank steak, fried an egg, and had a salad. It's been a great weekend. Thank god I ran some this week. Yeesh.

Nicest he's ever talked about UGA. Only said he was tapping the brakes. Only slightly condescending.
