This morning the National TransportatioN Safety Board proposed that states lower the blood alcohol limit from .08 to .05. That means a 120 lb woman could be legally drunk if she has one glass of wine then drives home.

We SEC fans are phucked.

That's pretty extreme. Should be quite the boon in DWI fines though.

Should be raised to .12.

Something like 85% of traffic fatalities involving alcohol are at a BAC of .17 and above.

Current .08 is really adsurd and people should be outraged and raising hell that so many get fricked by it. It's a money grab, nothing more under the current laws.

Good anything that can help save lives. You must be an idiot if you drive after drinking anything

No excuses

Support. It's .05 or below pretty much everywhere around the world. Too many drunk drivers are self confident and they 'think' they're okay.

Saving 1 life to frick up 400 others is a really bad idea imo.

That is essentially what you have with current dui laws.

These laws are completely biased against the drivers like me that drive better when they are drunk.

I heard something on the radio that said a couple thousand kids are killed in school zones by drivers each year.

I say cars should be illegal in the US.

Anything that saves a life is a good idea afterall.

Not against this in principle, but really wish there were better transportation options. Good luck not driving in Baton Rouge.

I'm not exactly for a set limit period.

Should be .00. Some countries have a zero limit and they seem to be fine. There's just no reason to drink and drive.

Doesn't just one or two beers put most people over the limit? Hard to imagine what practical difference such a change makes, if that's the case. So now you can only drink half a beer instead of a full one, ohhh lawd. Seems like just a straight money grab anyway. Like lowering the limit .03 points is going to make all the drunk drivers of the world stop and say, "OH NOPE, BETTER CALL A CAB."

It is. Zero doubt about it. ANYONE that thinks it is about safety is a fool.

I think this is a good idea. I don't want to be on the road with anyone who has been drinking.
Fines should be extremely high, and penalties for repeat offenses should be greater.

.05 is a beer for some people.

NO WAY IN frickING HELL YOU ARE EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO IMPAIRED AFTER 1 BEER.

.08 itself is kind of a travesty as well considering for most that is 2 beers.

The only person that you will ever meet that reacts from two beers would be that fake drunk bitch at every party.
