SEC Coaching Legends after their first 9 years

I saw this chart in our student newspaper last week in honor of CLM's 10th year as our head coach. It also includes other SEC coaching legends after their first 9 years in the league which I found pretty interesting.
Obviously, coaches today have the advantage of playing more games. Therefore, I also included their winning percentage, the total games played in those 9 years, and the average # of games played per season.

Les Miles has been my favorite coach, not counting my team's coach, for years. With that said, I can't believe he's only won one national title since being at LSU.

We almost had another
But I agree, hopefully we will see another. The west is so damn brutal. Playing against Urban Meyer coached Florida squads for 6 years led to some amazing games but unfortunately knocked us out of a few NC races too.
Les has beaten 7 National Championship coaches:
1. Larry Coker
2. Phillip Fulmer, (2 Times)
3. Steve Spurrier, (3 Times)
4. Urban Meyer, (3 Times)
5. Nick Saban, (3 Times)
6. Jim Tressel
7. Gene Chizik (3 Times)

1. The fact that Chizik is even on a list with those other coaches speaks volumes of how good Cam was
2. LSU was a missed OSU field goal from 2 though.

Its amazing what Saban did with LSU that a coach like Leslie could come in and win so many games. Wow. Saban

I have a feeling we'll look back at pictures of Saban and Miles together much like this specific one years from now and just remember how great a group those two were I would like to see a picture like this one with involving Saban, Miles, and maybe another coaching legend soon:
Get shivers everytime I see it.

Spurrier with 5 SEC titles (none shared) in his first 9 years.

2 as their second gig as SEC HC's.
the "retention" has no comparison anywhere else in CFB.

Don't worry, JoePa can't leave you defenseless in the shower.

Shouldnt Tuberville be in this list? He won like 85 games over 10 years at AU, including 7-2 vs Bama.

Wow, according to this Saban had 16 losses at LSU in 5 years and 11 at Bama in first four years.

But does that make Tuberville a legend?
He also only had a win % of .68, which may be higher than a few of the others but their long tenure and other accomplishments jump over what Tuberville did.

Both LSU and Bama were on hard times when Saban arrived. I think he lost 5 games the first year at LSU and 6 games the first year at Bama.

Just so we're clear...you're acknowledging Mark Richt as a "legend"? I'm not sure I'd go quite that far yet.

I just looked at the no of wins over a 10 year period and knew that Tubbs won a few.
