Some positives from last thursday.....

So we all know that you can't lose to Temple and have 7 (7!!!) turnovers. Was looking at the game / drive charts on ESPN - a few things came to mind:
1) 17 of Temple's points came off of turnovers.
2) The 7 turnovers on Thursday night's game is almost 1/3 of the total amount of turnovers last year.
Without the TO's, the game is a lot closer. I think if you look at the drive stats, you can make a pretty decent argument that Vanderbilt wins the game if they don't turn it over either.
Yes, I know that Vandy didn't score an offensive TD, but Rivers had some nice drives. When he was on the field I think they had like 180 yards of offense, and he didn't take any bad sacks like Robinette did.
Webb did a good job carrying the rock as well, but the freakin turnovers killed many a drive. 7 is excessive, especially against Temple.
So what does this mean against Ole Miss? I don't know. I'd like to see Rivers play the entire game: Robinette didn't seem to get things running, and Mcrary isn't ready. Week to week it will be difficult to tell how a team responds. Wallace is probably going to be on fire, best case for Vanderbilt is no turnovers and be able to keep up offensively and hope the luck reverses itself.
Ole Miss will not cover, that's my prediction.

I agree with all of this except the Rivers/Robinette switch. Patton's mobility edge over Rivers plays better for us, I think. Granted, it requires that the offense is run in a way to take advantage of this. Patton can run the read option. He won't be a burner and rip off huge runs like Nick Marshall or anything. He is competent enough to keep teams honest though.
I'd be curious what the yards per play were between Patton and Stephen. Just on passing stats, Patton's avg per attempt was 6.3 ypa while Stephen picked up 7.4 ypa. Considering Robinette only had 6 attempts while Rivers had 25, I'm not sure those numbers represent a fair sample size.
I think going with Rivers is "safer", but I think Robinette offers the most upside. Whichever Mason goes with, I just want him to stay with it unless it's truly abysmal. This switching back and forth just won't work.

If memory serves me seems like the O line had some penalties with Robinette - if they can keep up with his moves then yeah.
Hopefully Wallace throws same # of picks this week.

Those would be nice. We need a spark. I think if we can get a big play, whether it's on defense, offense, or special teams, things will get rolling for us. Especially with the last game, we need that boost of confidence.

Has there been a decision yet made for who starts between Robinette/Rivers for this weekend? Just curious.

I've heard nothing definitive to this point and that includes the interview with Mason on the radio this morning.

Read in the paper that it won't be announced until gameday, but Robinette / Rivers know who the starter is........

Affirmative. The team knows. We won't until lineups are announced. Johnny McCrary starts in a swerve.

Wouldn't be that far fetched

I'm really excited about him, but he showed last week that he was not ready. Maybe it was just being put in when he was, but he was trying to do way too much. If that's the guy though, fine. Just STICK. WITH. A. QB.

I really thought the defense looked good. Hopefully, we'll see more of a spark from the offense. I think we'll cover this weekend.

It's awfully defeatist, but losing by 2 scores or less and looking competent again is enough. After last week, that improvement would be encouraging. Obviously, I want to win and losing won't be fun, but it would be bearable. We knew this year would be a step back. We just cant lose 3 years worth of momentum.
