Who should we know about? Any surprises?

LSU had 9 true freshmen play:

Leonard Fournette - 8 carries, 18 yards.I am not worried one bit, he will be good.

Brandon Harris - only had 3 plays. He was clearly nervous but the sack he took was not his fault. Probably not the best time to play your true freshman QB (down 10 to a ranked team away from home). I'm also not worried about him, he will be good.

Davon Godchaux - played a lot at DT, also was probably our best DT in the game. He held his own against a good oline. The majority of the snaps he had were in the second half which shows how much the coaches trust him. Very excited to see him play because we need DTs moving forward and nobody expected him to play so well and so much in the first game.

Jamal Adams - played mostly special teams, but started to rotate in the defensive backfield later in the game. He will not start this year because we have so many good DBs but I expect him to play a lot. He is a future starter and will be a nice talent/depth boost in the backfield against teams like A&M.

Ed Paris -mainly played on special teams, will have more impact later in the year

Deondre Clark - DE, impact was minimal.

Trey Quinn - I expected him to play, but not as much as he did. He is so smooth, looks like he glides on the grass. Looked like he also had a few jitters, probably dropped a ball he would normally catch, but he still played great. Love the fact that we already have plays designed specifically for him even though he's only been on campus a month (reverse and 2pt conversion). Will contribute a ton this year.

Cameron Gamble - We have a black kicker!!!! And holy crap he has a leg

I'm missing the last one, maybe some other LSU fans can help me out.

Fournette did better than 8 for 18. It was 7 for 29 before a pitch went over his head. Little over 4 a clip.

Him and Brandon Harris looked nervous though. Tough situation to make your first college appearance as an 18 year old.

Jamal Adams will be absolutely special for us.

Quinn will be a steady receiver for us for 3/4 years. Has great burst out of his breaks and runs sharp routes. Also went after the ball with his hands. Looked like a senior out there.

Godchaux is solid. Once he learns technique he will be a force. 18 year old playing DT at 300 lbs and held his own against one of the nations best OLs.

The rest give us nothing to talk about.

They did not contribute a lot, but will as the season progresses.Tre' appears to be the real deal.

Only four true freshmen -- linebacker Tre' Williams, hybrid Nick Ruffin, safety Stephen Roberts and offensive tackle Braden Smith -- burned their redshirts on Saturday, and none saw more than six snaps on offense or defense.

Only Tre Williams actually contributed to the offense or defense(others mop up duty or special teams)

Don't forget to add that he lost his shoe when he was grabbed by the foot around the 40 yd line...

While Bama had a lot of true freshmen play, most played in spots and on special teams. I was impressed with our 2 true freshmen starters:

Cameron Robinson: He wasn't perfect but he was solid in his first start at left tackle; think he's gonna be a good 'un...

JK Scott: Only punted twice, but averaged 50+ and his first kick was a cannon shot...if he can be consistent, think he's gonna be good as well...

Think we'll see more significant playing time for freshmen in the next couple of games...

Auburn only played 4 Freshmen.

Tre Williams was in on 6 snaps

Nick Ruffin got 4 snaps at Star at the end of the game.

Steven Roberts played on Special Teams

Braden Smith came in with the 2nd team line at the end of the game.

I think we'll see Roc Thomas burn his redshirt soon.

Sony Michel kicked arse

Nick Chubb kicked arse

Isaiah McKenzie is going to be very good and very dangerous.

Dominick Sanders looked good at DB

Malkolm Parrish looked good at DB

Isaiah Wynn and Dyshon Sims both played OL, which held its own as a unit.

Lorenzo carter proved that he is ready to be a part of a three headed monster rush linebacking corps that is going to wind up hurting someone.

Jeb Blazevich is going to be a very good tight end for us. Had some great blocks and a catch or two.

Overall, all 9 of our freshmen looked outstanding. Really excellent job by every one of them.

Tennessee played 21 true freshman on Sunday night but the one that looked the best IMO was Derek Barnett at DE.

He got penetration consistently and made a huge play on the 4th and 1 stop. Having him step up is huge for our DL and overall D.

Myles Garrett: Missed some sacks I thought he could have had, but applied pressure. Doing that against a very good S. Car O line impressed the hell out of me. Kid is going to be as good or better than advertised.

Speedy: Dropped a couple of passes. One he took his eye off, and could have been a TD, instead we settled for a FG. Did not cost us, but could have. Great blocker, plays nasty. Has very good speed and moves.

Armani Watts: Finally have a safety. Was nervous as hell having a true freshman safety heading in to Carolina, but alas it was our senior who mucked it all up. Excited about this one.

That first punt was a difference maker. This kid could end up being one of Bama's biggest weapons if, like you said, he can be consistent.

VOLS played 21 freshman but I'll list the ones that stood out to me.

Derek Barnett (DE) - consistently got pressure on the QB and was also very, very good against the run. I was also really impressed with how he contained Keeton when he would try to scramble. Barnett was the best of the bunch imo.

Jalen Hurd (RB) - Didn't have a whole lot of opportunities in the run game but he was very close to breaking a long run a couple of times. We finally saw what he could do when he got a screen pass in space and shook a few defenders on the way to a touchdown.

Josh Malone (WR) - had a couple of catches and looked pretty good from what I saw. Had his man beat by a couple of steps on what would've been a long TD if Worley had made a good throw.

Ethan Wolf (TE) - looks like a future beast at tight end. Very good blocker and had 4 or 5 catches iirc.

Todd Kelly Jr (SS) - had a fumble recovery and looked good tackling in the open field. Really can come up and lay the wood. Wouldn't be surprised if he's starting by the OU game.

Jashon Robertson (RG) - He got lost a couple of times in pass protection but he looked very good when he was run blocking.
