See bold below for update.

After going off against Clemson, I wanted to see how Todd has done in his career the 2nd time facing an opponent. Currently he has not seen anyone 3 times yet, but that will change in 2 weeks. Also, there are a few teams he did not face in his 2nd year due to injury.

2012 SC- 13 att/39 yards/0 TD
2013 SC- 30 att/132 yards/1 TD. 1 rec/8 yards/1 TD

2012 UK- 12 att/47 yards/0 TD. 3 rec/23 yards
2013 UK- 8 att/77 yards/0 TD. 5 rec/90 yards/2 TD

2012 UF- 27 att/118 yards/1 TD. 2 rec/23 yards
2013 UF- 17 att/100 yards/1 TD. 3 rec/87 yards/1 TD

2012 AU- 11 att/116 yards/1 TD. 1 rec/10 yards
2013 AU- 15 att/79 yards/1 TD. 10 rec/77 yards

2012 GT- 12 att/97 yards/2 TD. 2 rec/20 yards
2013 GT- 20 att/122 yards/3 TD. 4 rec/36 yards/1 TD

2012 NU- 23 att/125 yards/1 TD. 1 rec/4 yards
2013 NU- 21 att/86 yards/0 TD. 7 rec/97 yards/1 TD

2013 CU- 12 att/154 yards/2 TD. 1 rec/1 yard
2014 CU- 15 att/198 yards/3 TD. 1 rec/0 yards

What does this mean? Well...of these 7 matchups, TG has done far better in the 2nd matchup 5 times. And in teh other 2, his overall production was relatively similar. There are cases here where he has faced a team gone from awful/great, from great/average, bad/bad, and just about any other combo you can think of. Fact is that MOST of the time, Gurley performs better on the subsequent times facing a team. For one, this is very bad news for missouri, ut, and vandy. It also makes me curious to see what he'll do for his encore against SC.

October Update-

2012 UT- 24 att/130 yards/3 TD. 1 rec/3 yards
2014 UT- 28 att/208 yards/2 TD. 4 rec/30 yards

2012 VU- 16 att/130 yards/2 TD. 1 rec/13 yards
2014 VU- 25 att/163 yards/2 TD. 2 rec/24 yards

Looks like Todd has stayed true to form. Anybody else got a feeling he's about to go off this Saturday against missouri since he's only played them once before?

He just looked pissed against Clemson. Like he hated them. I'm guessing he's going to gin up some major hatred for the c*cks as well. Especially at their place.

I do think he simply scared the p*ss out of Clemson and they wanted no part of him. I mean, how else do you explain that there was NO ONE but the kicker to block on the kick off and all Gurley did was run straight down the middle, untouched. Heck, no one was within four yards of him..

Wondering if Gurley will have much room against South Carolina's 9-2 defense.

Spurrier might figure this year he doesn't have to defend the pass. At least until Mason proves otherwise.

I dig the analysis

Also, food for thought, we've never seen a Gurley HB pass...just sayin'...

9-2 defense.

They will be running a 6-6. Said it in his presser after the Faggies game. I imagine he will game plan and scheme though. Realistically I would expect an 11-1. Five down lineman in a traditional 50 front. Big arse nose guard clogging the middle requiring double teams from our OL. 5 Linebackers. Two middle backers will "spy" Gurley. Where he goes they go. Gurley steps up to the middle they meet him in the hole. He goes outside they are working downhill to meet him on the outside or if he cuts back in. One Free Safety in a Cover 1 Zone. That's right, his pass coverage zone will be side line to side line. He will play the deepest man in the zone. Shouldn't have a problem as we all know Mason can't throw it more than ten yards and with five backers keeping everything in front of them when they drop back the passing game should be a non-factor. That's how I'd beat Todd Gurley.

Having an extra defender on the field seems like the only viable option at this point.

Missouri only let up 3 100 yard rushers last year and 2 were in the Auburn game......

They've given up 4 in 5 games this year......

23 rushes - 164 yards - 2 TDs
3 rec - 45 yards
0/0 pass attempts - 0 yards

I don't know that TG is necessarily better because he's facing a team a second time. I think he's better because he has a better O-Line and he's progressed as a football player.

Injury aside, 2014 TG > 2013 TG > 2012 TG. One would hope skills improve over time and not decline, *cough* Marshall.

As far as 2014 numbers are concerned...not only does TG have the o-line and his personal progression going for him, but it's his duty this year to carry the offense on his back (and half of the opposing team with him). His first 2 years at UGA he had a QB worth 2 shits who could help him win games.

I also read this morning that his 4 career high games in rushing have all come in 2014.

There's a great, free article on the front page of the UGA rivals site called "it's a numbers game" with some good gurley stats.

The article comes out every week and is always packed with good info.

Is this your way of telling us that DGD and dhuck20 are one in the same?

Well, you did say "nice call, DGD" in a post to dhuck20..which seems to be saying that either you hit the wrong post or are saying what I posted...

Or, I could just be off in left field rambling some shite which has been known to happen before.
