Someone should start a deadpool on which city will be the location of the next large scale attack. It's coming, just a matter of when.

quote:

The Department of Homeland Security has lost track of more than 6,000 foreign nationals who entered the United States on student visas, overstayed their welcome, and essentially vanished -- exploiting a security gap that was supposed to be fixed after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.

quote:

immigration officials have struggled to keep track of the rapidly increasing numbers of foreign students coming to the U.S. -- now in excess of one million each year. The immigration agency’s own figures show that 58,000 students overstayed their visas in the past year. Of those, 6,000 were referred to agents for follow-up because they were determined to be of heightened concern.

“They just disappear,” said Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. “They get the visas and they disappear.”

Coburn said since the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, 26 student visa holders have been arrested in the U.S. on terror-related charges.

Tightening up the student visa program was one of the major recommendations made by the 9/11 Commission, after it was determined that the hijacker who flew Flight 77 into the Pentagon, Hani Hanjour, had entered the U.S. on a student visa but never showed up for school.

Edge said ICE agents are trying to locate every one of the 6,000 missing students, but acknowledged that “we really have a lot more work to do” to tighten up the student visa program.

Despite repeated concerns raised by Congress, federal immigration officials have also continued to grant schools certification to accept overseas applicants even if the schools lack accreditation, state certification, or any obvious measure of academic rigor.

There are now more than 9,000 schools on the government approved list.

No we've learned how to give our inept bureaucracies even more money to be inept bureaucracies. Hell Shrub(little Bush) even created an entire new massive inept bureaucracy.

So we've learned a lot.

I'm thinking Houston because it's the oil capital of the U. S. Terrorists will cross the Mexican border with low-level nuclear bombs and devastate the area.

The terrorists seem to be really focused on DC and NYC as targets. For some reason, they can't conceive of much "easier" targets beyond those.

True.
But a majority of this board thinks Repubs don't do that.

They seem to prefer symbolic and political targets to strategic ones. Luckily. So far.

I'm about to walk into a conference, so I'll have to come to this thread when I can give it the attention it deserves.

Don't forget the boys. Those freaks get a couple dozen boys to diddle along with the 72 virgins. A bizarre religion.

Yeah, I've always wondered why they didn't go after small towns or sporting events that had lots of people, but didn't have the attention of the NSA or FBI. For instance, if they sent a few suicide bombers to a few Wal-Marts in Suburban areas, then everyone in the country would feel unsafe. I know if someone walked in to a random college football game with a bomb strapped to themselves under their clothes, they could take out hundreds.

I remember the DC sniper and everyone on the East Coast felt unsafe because people were doing normal activities like pumping gas or going to the grocery store. If terrorists pulled off something like that on a bigger scale, then it would be mass panic.

NYC, D.C., and Los Angeles most likely. No, we didn't learn enough, but it's on a much larger scale than red tape and bureaucracy. The current generation doesn't even know who the enemy is, and they don't make any distinction between Christians and Islamic extremists. It will take more of our own blood on another catastrophic scale of historical proportions before we understand. Even then, it could take a follow-up attack. It's important for our people to understand who the enemy is, because right now, many do not.

This. The moral equivalency of some of some idiots is nothing short of amazing. Tea Party Christians are labeled as terrorists by liberal progressive Democrats for standing up for the Constitution while thousands are murdered by Muslim terrorists routinely.

I think you give the government too much credit in planning and execution.

The government didn't plan it or execute it.
