A roommate and I are thinking about making the drive to Tuscaloosa and purchasing two tickets outside the stadium to make it a little more economical for us. Is it possible, has anyone done it, and what should we be expecting to pay. Thanks, and SEC,SEC,SEC!

Definitely. Walk around the stadium for a few minutes. I promise you you'll find plenty. I paid face value for 2 tickets at the 2010 IB. Bama alumni are as good/nice as they come.

If you wait until kickoff you can get a pair for face value or less. Got 2 tickets to the UT game year for 15 bucks a piece.

I do it sometimes. Always look for the older, grey haired guys. they are usually legit and just selling spare season tickets. Anyone out of that demographic, I would not trust. Been ripped off twice by pasty, student looking white kids who sold me a couple of counterfits.

This should help you out by eliminating some of the scalping around the stadium.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- The runners who buy tickets to Alabama football games in Tuscaloosa and give them to scalpers for resale can no longer do so without a special permit, a $100 business license and a picture ID, the city's leaders agreed Tuesday night.

At their weekly meeting Tuesday, the city council, which the Tuscaloosa News said has been licensing ticket scalpers for decades, amended city code to require runners for the scalpers to also purchase permits before working in the city.

Although ticket scalpers and their runners can buy and resell tickets to any entertainment event, they are most commonly seen in Tuscaloosa on Saturdays in the fall, when runners on foot and bicycles cruise up and down University Boulevard and other arteries leading to Bryant Denny Stadium buying tickets to Alabama football games from passersby. The runners then take the bought tickets to a scalper, who resells them for profit.

In the past, permits were only required for the scalpers. After Tuesday's vote, though, the runners and anyone else engaged in buying, selling or reselling tickets to events in Tuscaloosa must purchase a business license from the city to do so. That license, along with special permit and picture identification must be fully visible during their activities.

That's actually in the state code. I just don't think it was ever enforced up until recently.

Section 40-12-167

Ticket scalpers.

Any person offering for sale or selling tickets at a price greater than the original price and who is commonly known as a ticket scalper shall pay a license tax of $100.

Same here. Not great tickets. I wouldn't try to buy them until right at kickoff.

They practically give tickets away in Alberta City. Just walk down the sidewalk holding out cash and you can buy a ticket on the front row of the 50 yard line for $10.00.

You'll get a better deal online, the scalpers around the stadium gouge to the maximum.

Lol. You're a dick, though I suppose you could have picked a worse area than Alberta City.

To answer the question, you will almost definitely get tickets. How much you'll pay and what kind of seats you get will be the variables. If you're not trying to be real frugal then I'd go on Tuscaloosa Craigslist and get them there ahead of time somehow or set up a time to meet them before the game. I suppose counterfeits are a possibility but the same is true with scalpers.

You will see brokers along the strip before you get on campus, on the sidewalks, maybe at intersections. I would avoid them. On the sidewalk along the quad, on campus, you are more likely to find ordinary fans with extra tickets. I think you'll have better luck buying at reasonable prices there.

Stubhub will make scalpers obsolete. The Universities are now using it to recirculate tickets. You can buy the tickets right before KO and have them scanned on your iphone.

I was actually referring to the "runners" that scalpers use to buy up the extra tickets being sold by regular folks and bring them to the scalpers for resale. They can drain the area of extra tickets if they're allowed to.
