2nd hand info coming from Coker's dad that Jake may have injured his meniscus again. MRI today possibly confirming. I thought this couldn't have been true, but I see there were several tweets before the game that brought to light that Coker wasn't warming up with the rest of the QBs for a while on Saturday, his knee was heavily wrapped, and one individual noted a "limp."

Praying it isn't true. Hate it for the kid if it is.

For the record, the person who told me this was the same person who was able to confirm Coker's intent on transferring to Bama early in the season last year.

Didn't he get snaps late in the game? I doubt they would play him, or that Saban would say that he would play this coming week, if he had an injured knee.

Heard something about his leg being wrapped up. Hope not.

Considering Alabama had a defensive tackle that played through a "torn ACL" a couple years back...

Eh, who knows?

The text said they thought it might have happened on Wednesday but they weren't sure about that detail.

And yes Coker did a couple handoffs at the end of the game.

I saw a tweet where Saban was quoted as saying both QBs were set to play this week. That may be tentative on the MRI though.

Think they're playing it close to the vest on this one.

I'll add that I don't know Blake Sims from Adam. I'm following Bama closely because Jake was one of my favorite athletes I've ever worked with while I was at FSU. From what I saw on Saturday I couldn't understand why they wouldn't play Coker more during times Sims was obviously struggling, and perhaps this explains it.

I'm no longer in collegiate athletics so I have no problems sharing info about my time there, or what I hear now.

Why the quotes around 'torn ACL'?

Because every single post-season we hear about an Alabama player miraculously playing through severe injuries.. while in reality, they weren't really hurt that bad.

I don't think that if he even had a suspected knee injury that he would have seen garbage time snaps.

It was Josh Chapman and they injected chicken waddle in his knee

So you're saying Chapman didn't have surgery to repair his ACL and meniscus? You may want to inform the doctors that they missed.

This is what's puzzling. It's just weird that they spent all fall having a significant QB battle, one that apparently wasn't settled until the day before or day of the game, and yet Jake didn't get much meaningful snaps at all.

Then again this is my first time watching Bama closely since before going to college, but it seemed odd Jake wasn't put in while Sims was struggling.

Surgery on an ACL or meniscus doesn't make it a severe injury.

Always seem to be injuries to kids when they don't meet expectations

It's hard to believe a defensive lineman would be able to play through a torn ACL.

I played DL on a torn meniscus in high school. It was pretty painful but it wasn't until after the season that I had the surgery.

However ACL surgery is never considered "routine."

OK. I've always heard torn ACLs combined with torn meniscus was pretty serious. Just stop while you're behind.

I don't know that it's true. But the person who told me did have solid info on Coker to Bama long before the news was broken. He is a friend of Jake's dad.
