I asked this on the MSB, but got no answer. What was he doing? He didn't run a ball to the ref, he nearly knocked over another Auburn ball ball who gave a new ball to the ref. what exactly was he trying to accomplish?

Teams use different kicking balls. The speedster probably has the regular ones, so he wanted to be with play in case Ray got caught. Ultimately, he wasn't needed, and the ball boy with kicking one gave the ref his ball.
