I'd give him a C for today's effort. Can't be lower than that because he didn't make huge mistakes. But outside of the 3 TD passes, he only had 62 yards passing. Not very good against a team he should have been padding his stats against. Just glad the schedule is as it is. But where I thought the noncons were all guaranteed wins, now I'm kind of holding my breath. UCF is going to be tough to get by and @Toledo may give fits.

He doesn't suck but our fanbase has grossly overhyped him. He's a "big play" quarterback who won't engineer a lot of methodical drives

He won't be the QB for the next 3 years, and it won't be because he left for the draft.

He didn't look great. It seems like he does better outside the pocket. Maybe settling him down has taken him outside of his comfort zone. Either way, we need him to start clicking.

I'm by no means already calling for Mauk to lose his job, but what's the story on Printz? How'd he look in camp and whatnot? Mauk obviously beat him out for a reason I'm guessing.

Sometimes I hate Mizzou fans.

So, a drunk guy starts it.

Then we get other dumb arse comments.

Then we get Mr. The World is fricked and You Are Just To Stupid To Realize it Therefore our QB Sucks chiming in.

Then we get a question about Printz.

Sometimes I hate each and everyone of you, and amazingly it's all for the same dumb arse shite.

Quit being so fricking negative. We might be good, we might not be good.

I guess I'm saying, quit being the same old stupid arse Mizzou fans.

Did last year not teach you anything? Just sit back and enjoy the ride, I guarantee it will be worth it at the end.

James Franklin vs Toledo (2013)

16/25 212 yards 1 TD 1 INT

I wish folks would chill out. Its early, if this continues through the next three, worry, but relax now.

You said Berkstresser was better option than Franklin my friend.

Love you man but Im not putting much stock into your QB analysis.

I don't think Mauk will be our qb for the next 3 years, but that doesn't mean I don't think he's gifted.

Look man, I get deep.

I go to the Buddhist temple with my wife and hear weird shite that makes me think twice all day long, and sometimes for months.

You made me think twice.

Now you're just pissing me off.

I'll be honest, the same question crossed my mind.

Not with the idea of replacing Mauk, but wondering if the coaching staff plans on grooming a reserve with a series or two per game as in season's past. And if so, Printz would the one I'd groom.

That said, it's clear Mauk needs all the reps to try hone his game and build chemistry with his receivers.

Here's an opinion piece from today's Trib that gives a balanced evaluation of Mauk's pros and cons.

Read it and let me know what you think.

The fact that we couldn't build a big enough lead against a FCS opponent to make wholesale substitutions, should be a concern, and one of those subs should be the backup QB.

It's still somewhat amazing that Mauk can hit those 40 yard plus passes almost effortlessly, but struggles to get it close enough to his big TE to get a hand on it at 10 yards out. Is it possible his coaches are in his head about throwing a pick? Whatever the problem is they better get it the fuk worked out and pronto, had we played any of A&M, UGA or Auburn yesterday, we would have gotten our azz handed to us in a paper sack.

You just can't take much from game's like yesterday. Sure it would have been nice if Mauk had thrown for 350 yards and we had won 55-3 but we have seen what this kid brings to the table last season and we would not have won the East last year had he not played well. 13-21, 179 yards and 3td's is a solid days work in a game where we really didn't need any more than that to win the game. People need to chill.

I don't think anyone is jumping off the ledge, other than a drunk post here or there. I do think it's ok to critique their play. Hell, I'm sure GP and staff are critiquing it and aren't too happy with their play. That doesn't mean we jump straight to Printz or Berkstresser. All it means is that Mauk threw for 170 something yards in a game that he should have been padding his stats. That the OL wasn't giving the kind of protection that it should have been against a vastly inferior team.

The thing that frustrated me the most is that there are only so many games that we will be able to get the back ups significant reps in. And I'm not saying reps in order to replace anyone but reps in case someone goes down. That was one opportunity wasted, and probably the most likely opportunity to do so.

Having said that, bring on Toledo. Hate having to wait a week to see what changes/improvements come with next week.
