Strongest SEC we've had in a very long time.

This conference is just freaking stacked. I doubt any team escapes this year without a loss or two. If Miss St lives up to the hype and UT can find a pulse and go bowling then this year's crop of teams is stronger than any year I can remember.

It's going to be a long season for Arkansas.

Can we let more than like 4 teams play before we say this? Still a ton of teams with questions at QB.

SEC got rolled at home by a mid tier big 12 team and a bottom feeder in the american. Let's see what happens today

Top team in the East would finish 6th in the West.

I'd say 2010, at least from the West standpoint.

2010 and 2011 back to back as far as the West is concerned. The division was just brutal.

No one escaped without a loss last year either...

So yeah, "we" were stacked last year too I guess.

i don't know how strong the teams are going to be but, I don't recall a year when there were so many teams that were supremely confident about their season, mostly because of what they return either on the sidelines or on the field. of course, prior to thurs, scar was in that boat. that's what reminds me that cfb is unpredictable. teams that were expected to be good will falter. teams that weren't will shine, like auburn last year.

Field goal return teams have dropped off a little.

Strongest year I can remember was 2007. Parity across the board, so many epic prime time games under the lights, and a 2 loss sec champion (who lost to Kentucky and Arkansas of all teams) won the Natty.

I agree. 07 was epic. Been some strong years since then but it seemed the conference had so much balance in both divisions.

The OP makes this thread before LSU-Wisky and Clemson-UGA? Excitable much?

Ya, i feel like the sec could be very average this year or very good but it is too early to tell. No team going into the season looks like they would stack up with the top level teams of 2011
