So is Jacob Coker THAT BAD or is Sims THAT GOOD?

All we heard and saw all off season was how Coker was going to walk right in at Bama and be handed the job and magically be a Heisman contender. Nobody gave Blake Sims much of a chance and he winds up starting vs West Virginia tomorrow.
Thus my question, did Coker underperform in camp, or just not have enough time to learn the playbook, or is Sims just the superior QB?????
I'll Hang up and listen.

ETA: I'd almost forgotten the procedure for terrible threads around here.

Whoever the starter is, one thing is for certain: they won't lose to Miss. State.

The narrative has shifted to "Well we knew Sims was gonna start game 1 all along". Please keep up.

Saban is giving Sims a chance. He's earned it. Believe what you will.

Would you say the Bama is a lock to beat OM?

Man, grad school is HARD.

Jake Coker is Andrew Luck 2.0 but better...more time - more time to learn playbook esp. compared to a 5th yr senior...only fair that live bullet warfare settled it - jc will shine forth as the sun by game 3

We don't know. No one does. Coker is still developing chemistry/timing, he's only been practicing since the start of this month. We *might* know more tomorrow.

I'd say Sims is pretty good and has had years to grasp the system. Coker came in late and will get better. Apparently, Coker has the talent to take the position if he continues to grow into the job.

Coker has only been there a few months. I'm sure he has learned the playbook but that doesn't mean he is ready to lead the team. Sims is a serviceable QB that can get the ball to the playmakers needed to let Bama win. Give Coker some time and I bet he will be getting significant playing time, if not starting.

Sims is getting the start to appease the team and seniority. He will live or die by this start and be on a short leash

Speaking wit someone close to the program, Coker has more physical talent than Sims and is not starting because of learning curve. Saban is pushing Coker to learn the system as fast as he can

I agree with this.

I'm 100% sure that Saban thinks that at this moment, Sims is better than Coker. Because of that, I'm 99% sure that Coker isn't showing himself to be a guy whose talent and potential are above average.

More than likely but I'll be pulling for OM.
