I know AJ Hilliard has a dislocated ankle. KDS said Cam Clear has an ankle injury. Anybody know more on Clear's? Or any others for the matter.

After Clear went down, I saw him on the sideline walking and jumping around trying to test out his ankle, but a drive or 2 later he was sitting with no helmet. Hopefully it's not too bad.

He had a defender roll over his legs on an early first quarter play.

I hate Hilliard is lost for (what i'm assuming is) the rest of the season. He looked like a solid player while he was on the field.

Clear should be ok, he walked off on his own and was on a bike and jogging on the sideline. By the time he probably would have come back we were up by three scores and moving the ball at will through the air so they probably just didn't risk it. We might hold him out against Lamar (why risk it) but I would be surprised if he isn't playing again by Rice.

Hilliard's injury has a 6-8 week recovery period minimum so he will probably go for a medical redshirt.

Washington is expected back for Arkansas from his collarbone injury in camp.

Did Washington get any looks at will in the offseason or is it probably Sanders going forward?

Seems like it might be the season. Found this regarding ankle dislocation.

quote:

Many ankle dislocations with a sprain or fracture require surgery. Surgical pins and screws are typically needed to reconstruct the joint. The pins and screws are taken out after 8 to 12 weeks, but in extreme cases might be left in permanently. Recovery from surgery typically takes approximately 4 1/2 to 6 months. Ankle dislocations that aren't repaired with surgery can take up a year to heal.

Hillard also posted a pic on his twitter of what looked like him the hospital.

Ankle dislocations are a mess. He has youth on his side, but it is exceptionally rare to completely dislocate an ankle without tearing ligaments. IMO there just isn't any foreseeable way he'll be back this year.

We can only hope its not so serious that he can recover/rehab and come back next year.

if he doesn't come back late in the year, he will qualify for a med-shirt. IIRC you have to play in fewer than 1/3 of your teams games and none after Oct 15th (or some such date) and it's automatic.

Oh ok, got it, thanks. Wasn't sure what the specifics were regarding that.

Snyder suggested Washington may be back soon and the plan will be to have him work at WLB when he returns and stick with Baggs/Alaka at SLB.

I think this week you'll probably see a 2-deep of

WLB - Sanders OR Bass
MLB - Mastro, Walker
SLB - Baggs, Alaka

I just don't think the coaches are comfortable with that WLB situation longer term (vs the Auburn, Bama, LSU types) which is why we're moving Washington.

They must not be confident in Wade at all if they're having a WILL 2-deep of Sanders and Bass.

I don't want to slag the guy but Wade is not even in the discussion. I'm honestly not sure why you keep bringing him up. I can't even remember the last time I've heard him mentioned. The coaches talk about everyone but him. FFS Hagen mentioned every single other scholarship linebacker and even brought up 2 walk-ons looking good during camp without Wade's name coming up even once.

He wasn't moved, he's always been a Will. I'm not saying he doesn't play that position. I'm simply saying he, to this point, hasn't played it particularly well.
