So that's like 1/100 of what they raised so far. I'll take it.

That is some COLD dose of reality right there.

If there is a site that I can undoubtedly trust, it's one that has ads for credit card knives and assualt rifles.

I just fricking hate it with all of my guts. It's one of the worst things to hit the internet in a long, long time.

This isn't even an up to date article.

I hate the ice bucket challenge as much as the next guy, but that's pretty standard numbers for these types of non-profits.

I really was just wanting to use the word Cold in a sentence and picked the one I did, but a lot of charity organizations are huge scams just the same. Don't know if this one is as the article says it is, but wouldn't be surprised if the article is accurate either.

Well just like most charities, your donations go towards sustaining the charity more than funding the cause. it is what it is, business with tax exempt status

how do those salaries compare to the same positions at other companies?
how much should go to research?
should 100 percent go to research and no money go anywhere else?
those salaries don't make up a very large expense in the grand scheme of things. They don't have to pay taxes but charities still have expenses and you can't dump all the money you receive into research. If you put all the money into research then where will the research be done?

quote:yep they just have tax exempt status not expense exempt status. This is another stupid journalism major that tried to find a gotcha moment. It rallies the stupid common american that doesn't understand how businesses work from a finance and accounting perspective. You say only 27% goes to this and then throw out what looks like some large salaries and the retards get all butt hurt. This lack of understanding about how to allocate funds to continue running a business is why so many people live pay check to pay check.

This charity pulls in ~$48 million and puts ~$47million back into the program. LINK
Those ALS salaries are fricking ridiculous for a non-profit.

FYI, when you donate to ALS you can ask that your full donation be specifically allotted for ALS research.

No, and they put money towards patient and community service too, so that 27% number is stupid.
I'd like to know what "Public and Professional Education" entails and why it takes up such a large chunk of th

I can understand why journalist love the gotcha moment. One of the easiest degrees to get and always a moment away from just being a bartista instead of a bartista with a blog. They are also extremely jealous of the pay checks business majors bring in while they wither away living pay check to pay check and half their field is being killed off.

And by the way, the people mentioned in the OP will be paying taxes on those salaries.

I don't think 100% can go to research since the researchers need to pay their rent and feed their families.
