NOT Mathers and Walton.

That's one thing to take away from tonight's game.

I don't think either one of them can play guard or center.

Agreed. I do love seeing Walton catch it out of the backfield though.

I would move Walton into that Mackey role and Let Dodson and Wilkins get the bulk of carries.

Dodson truly was a beast but I think Wilkins may be better.

Dodson is the epitome of an every down APB... Has enough wiggle to make you miss but he keeps his legs pumping so hard that it takes a very good tackle to get him down

Has good vision and hands... He is who our starter should be

Mathers looked lost. He was doing the enricky slow motion tippy toe in the backfield move everytime he got the ball, and he was determined to find someone to jump over everytime he was handed the ball.

Mathers and Walton are the best backs. There is more to RB than how you look running it. You also have to block and at times catch.

If we get better play on the line we will get better results out of the running game. Regardless of which one is back there.

I thought Walton looked great, really like his speed. Mathers doesn't need to touch the field.

Walton catching balls out of the backfield as a check down for Bo is dynamite. The guy has wheels.

Running him between the tackles and completely misreading the defensive end on the zone read.. Not good

Go back and rewatch the game. I could not believe the way our OL got bitch slapped. It is hard to do jack diddley when a DL meets you at the handoff!

Judging Dodson/Wilkins vs Mathers/Walton on last night's performances is a little premature.

1st half defense against 2nd half defense. It took the OC 3 quarters to figure out what to run against Boise's defense. Mather's had one run where he broke 4 tackles and only made 3 yards. Boise was blitzing the gaps with the lb's and we never ran a sweep or counter play wide, to slow it down.

Bad play calling and poor blocking is not the fault of the RB's. Dodson is a very good back and Walton is also, they will be the 4th qtr pair once the defense has been used up. Notice the formation change with the TE's? It was our version of the power run game. Should have used it in the first half to beat down Boise St. 19 defensive lineman rotation. Im not hating on any of our RB's, we have 5 or 6 very good RBs, but our offensive line needs time to get their shite together.

Rushing Statistics
NAME CAR YDS AVG long TD
Mark Dodson 4 27 6.8 19 (TD) 1
Jordan Wilkins 5 21 4.2 9 0
I'Tavius Mathers8 1 2.1 6 0

Walton had -3. The oline didn't look good but yards are yards and our two top guys aren't getting it done either. Time to try something new.

I don't care who the rb was, Freeze said himself the goal of Boise defense was to stop the run and they were loading the box. In that case you take what is given. The passing game is what was given.
