Offense will be fine. Defense.....I have real issues with our d line play. Secondary was awful, but they are young. I think deke adams needs a pink slip he keeps it up

Umm, WR's were pretty good. Other than that I got nothing.

Thompson was sort of inefficient but it doesn't help when you're playing behind, have no running game to help, & the OLine not playing well.

Defensively, everythings pretty concerning. Couldn't get pressure, couldn't cover, & couldn't tackle in open space to save our lives.

We take it for what it is.... a arse whipping. The hype seemed unwarranted.... defense looked confused and scared all game... offense looked steady but shaken.... ground game was non existent. Offense line and run game which were sposed to be strenghts still missed assignments constantly... wilds looked good but didnt get ball enough.... our dbs... better grow up real quick.... cause is a rokkie can torch them this way then every game will be painful to watch...

Basically sc looked way worse than aTm looked good.

Your defense looked like ours last year. Going to be a long year if they keep that shite up. Hard to take anything from this. A&M was just dominant. But those wide open receivers all night was us last year.

Tight ends looked good.

But Even the LBs were not impressive. I kept waiting for a batted ball or something.

We need a leader at defense.

And a punisher. We looked extremely timid and unsure.

One thing that hurt us tonight was there really was no aspect of the team that was prepared to play from the outset: we know we got issues on defense, and hope that many of those will fix themselves as younger players learn their roles.

But TAMU came to play and was ready to go full-bore from the opening snap. As for us, there was no fire and blood in the eyes of the defense, and Thompson came out cold and a little unnerved at the start, going 0 for 3 in the opening series, and our OL didn't block well to start.

That IMO all combined to only fire up TAMU, and they jumped out on us in the score, and we were never able to catch up. Our defense looked lost out there against Hill's passing, and it was almost offensive production at will from start to finish.

IMO, ECU will also gain 500-600 total yards on us next Saturday. Our defense has got too much work to do in the span of 1 week. If Thompson comes out again next week spraying passes all over the place to start off, I may be turning the TV off by the 2nd quarter...

Negatives:
Mike Davis is a bitch

Were gonna have to wait til next year for a dline

It doesn't matter how poorly the secondary plays because nobody can cover for 7 seconds.

Positives:
Our WRs can ball

Teams are never as bad in the long haul as they may look in one game and they're never as dominant in the long haul as they might look in one game.

I was impressed with Thompson, in the bit I watched(and I wasn't a Thompson fan. I am now.). Still gotta watch the whole thing on DVR. You're DLine will get it fixed. They're just too talented not to. Your secondary will improve with games played.

And frankly, this might actually work for y'all. These kids have tons of pride. They are going to make someone pay. Bottom line, it's just 1 game in a long season with lots more football to play. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Also the pregame atmosphere was good enough for sportscenter to show the entire Sandstorm intro as a lead into sportscenter. So at least our fans showed up to the game

I just got back to CLT. I had a lot of interesting thoughts on the drive back.

We do not have a good pass rush. It just wasn't there. I didn't think aTm had world beaters on the OL, they were good, but our guys should have got more pressure.. I only saw 2 sacks, and less than a fistful of QBH's. This will get better as the season goes, but I can't fathom that it will improve drastically over a few weeks.

Our DB's are bad right now (compared to what we're used to.) They are really bad right now. They were burnt everywhere, out of position, didn't use good footwork, hip rotation, tackling (oh god the poor tackling...) coverage.... They absolutely looked like early season true freshman. They're going to need a lot more coaching and practice to get better.

The LB's...I certainly couldn't tell they were a stength at all. We got burnt on short yardage matchups all night, their coverage was awful. Also, poor tackling from the group as a whole.

I thought the OL did really well for what they were asked to do. Dylan had time for most of the night and we didn't use them in the run game like we should if we want to win games.

RB's, IDK what happened with MD28, 6 carries for about 15 yards...IDK what's going on with him or if he's injured. Brandon Wilds did really well...in the few carries he got, b/c we didn't try to run the ball or develop the rush for shite this game.

WR's...4 drops that I counted. Nick Jones did an amazing job. Shaq was just jogging out there when the ball wasn't coming to him. I took that as a signal that it wasn't before the ball was even thrown, I wonder if that's what the defenders saw as well. Nick Jones drop in the endzone before half was a critical play in the game. It kept us at 3 scores down when we received the ball in the 2nd half.

TE's they were there. Rory had a couple of the Drops, Adams had one too, but Adams outplayed Rory IMO.

Hull had major improvement from last season. I don't fault Fry for that missed FG, he doesn't have the leg to kick that distance. Kickoffs were great, solid work there.

The coaching was horrible this game. Whoever decided to pass the 1st 3 possessions of both halves and to force Thompson to throw to 1 of 2 WR's for a 30+ yard pass on 3rd and 1 was totally wrong to do that. Bad play calling from the get go and it put us playing from behind and gave the aggies confidence. Should have run the ball more early to setup those passes.

Coach Ward had his worst game in his career as a DC. He's had dozens of AWESOME games, but here it is, this is his most terrible. He didn't have the guys ready, and before anyone says, 'well they're young' that may be true, but he's been recruiting the guys he needs for 4 years. Hopefully he does better going forward this season, but this 1 game might be enough from making his 4th consecutive Top 20 Total Defense by season end.

I thought there was a HUGE improvement in Special Teams, credit to Coach Joe Rob. When I saw our guys taking touchbacks I thought, 'THANK YOU GOD!!!" Last year they would run it out to the 18 yd line, when they could've just taken a knee for 25. We avg'd 44 yds a punt, that's a 7 yd improvement from last year.

A lot of times, people look to deeply into first games and try to decipher how that game will impact and direct the whole season. I am one of them.

I thought we had a legit shot at going 10-2 or 11-1 this year. I would now say we are in the 7-9 win range now. It will all depend on how good are DB's get and how quickly. Also, we're going to have to find a way to hide our pressures and blitzes, b/c that's the only we those guys are going to be physically able to generate a pass rush.

Oh, and Thompson only completed 50% of his passes for 366 yards and 4 TD's. Not bad, but that's not getting us to ATL or even into contention in the SEC race. There were under 5 drops but he threw MANY uncatchable passes to his receivers.

I told my buddy the game was over when he came out and threw he ball 3 times after half time. Throwing it 3 times to start the game was perplexing to me as well

Why Spurrier couldn't work the run game and try to play a possession game I'll never understand.

I guess he knew we had to score with aTm every time, but we could have take. Our time doing it

Although a part of me is enjoying the loss, to be fair all is not lost. Your team is not as bad as the score just like we were not as bad as last year's FSU beating that was put on us was.

It is how you handle the loss that will be your measure. If your team folds like Auburn did in Chizick's last year early and essentially quit on themselves it will be a long year.....I doubt Spurrier will let that happen.

As the Bible says..Gird up your loins

We reaped what we've sown recruiting-wise. We had 3 DEs not make it into school (twice for Jhaustin Thomas) and now we've got a bunch of 2* nobodies who can't get pressure. This will be a season long issue. We also somehow put ourselves in the position of rotating multiple freshman at corner. And shite like this happens every year (LBs last year).

Aside from personnel concerns, this was one of the worst coaching performances I can ever remember by an SC staff. We looked like we hadn't practiced at all. The tackling was atrocious. The deep ball on 3rd and 1 w/ us fighting for our lives was infuriating. The constant drops from our WRs was brutal.

That defense will be lucky to get us to 7 wins. I get that things will get better and we can't possibly be this bad, but at the same time I saw so many BASIC BASIC BASIC mistakes last nite that I can't help but think negatively.
