I thinks Mizzou's chances of winning the SEC east have greatly improved, sez I!

I'm cautiously optimistic. I haven't been following much at all this offseason due to stuff going on business-wise, but I haven't heard anything super positive to outweigh the potential negatives.
Have I just been too busy to see it?
ETA: Besides the USC game.

Something tells me if this year goes like most, SC won't be as bad over the long haul as they were tonight and A&M, while they'll be good, won't be as dominant over the long haul as they were tonight.

I agree with this reedus. I think South Carolina was exposed tonight. I never count out a team coached by the OBC but the question marks that many pointed out about South Carolina came to fruition.
I want to see Georgia play I think they are the best team in the East even before tonight, I think Florida will be much improved. The wildcard is Tennessee for me. Im not sure they are contenders for the East but they sure as hell can affect the outcome with a win over any team in the SEC East.

Georgia is the team to beat. They're better than us, we'll have to have some luck.
Florida is going to be a lot better, they'll probably beat us.
It made no sense that SC was supposed to be as good as the experts said.

That was such a great game. After seeing those bastards run their mouths all off season I took great joy in watching get their asses kicked.

I'll be honest. I don't know how anyone could say one team was better than another going into the season this year. On offense, UGA does have the big RB's, but beyond that, who knows. I'm sure Mason is good, but I'm not sure we know how good when it's his team. Same can be said about Mauk.
UF, like just about every other team in the SEC looks better on paper because they get all the 4 and 5* talent, but are they really better. I just fall into the camp of Driskell has to prove it to me before I believe the offense will be any good. Just too many seasons of being less than mediocre under him.
UT...again, big and solid recruiting class, but I think I read somewhere that they may have as many as 30 true freshmen see the field this year. No matter how good that class was, that tells me their upper classmen are meh.
We've seen SC and where they can be exposed unless they make changes.
Bottom line, even with last night, who wins the east is a complete unknown, though SC losing game 1 certainly helps everyone elses chances.

The "limp" cocks lost 2 DLinemen to the NFL. And a couple of DB's. If anyone was believing the smoke that the ole ball coach was blowing up a certain part of our bodies then I have stock in Enron I would like to part with.
Their D was going to take a big hit and it did. Maty Mauk get your arm ready to throw the ball 50-60 times when we play them

I definitely feel better about our odds than I did at this time yesterday

SC's D will be much better by the time we play them (they can't do anything but get better). Thompson will still be mediocre. It will not be an easy game.
Mizzou will be good, but our idea of good has risen to hunting for SEC title which really is elite. We are thinner on D and at WR and running back than last year. It would really take some young guys to come on fast, especially in the middle of the D, for us to get to the title game, but it could happen. Also since we aren't as deep this year injuries could send us back to 2012

All correct.

I agree with that... I feel better, not confident though

True, thanking the lord each and every day that its a home game.

No way guaranteeing a win or think it's automatic, but if the thought going into the season that the game @SC was going to be our toughest game, yes, I feel better. Though the flipside is, after seeing last night, we do have to go to A&M this year.

I never bought into the idea that SC could lose their all time leading quarterback (who schooled us in the second half last year) and the number one draft pick and still be great. For the same reason people question our WR losses as the main factor for not repeating as champs.
I imagine UGA is the runaway front runner now. I hope UFL has the same crappy offense as last year. I agree with the earlier poster that TN is the dark horse. Although they have no returners on offense or defense they have done amazing recruiting for the last few years.
My guess is we finish second to UGA and have a shot at the playoff with 1 loss.
Like reedus mentioned, aTm looked perfect last night. might be toughie in college station.

quote:I don't think anybody is a runaway frontrunner this year. At least not this early. They have a lot of questions too. But I would agree with frontrunner.

quote:They will. They have no skill players on O, and Muschump is turrble. Their D is going to be outstanding though and we have to go there.

1a) UGA
1b) aTm
2) UCF
3) FL
4) Scar (and I still expect them to improve a lot).
5) TN
and really I want to put UCF above FL
