Parking at Williams-Brice Stadium

Do you need a special parking permit to park in the grassy area?
Is there anyway to get around the horrendous traffic jam?
I'll be coming from Augusta & arriving around 1 o clock...
should I leave earlier?

Best I can tell ya is to park at the Carolina Coliseum (should be free) and hop on the shuttles ($3 round trip). They also leave from right in front of the Russel House but you'd have to find a meter to park and would have a pretty good walk.

I think there is some first come first serve parking at the fairgrounds, but it's not in the nice green space
I don't think traffic will be that bad at 1 o'clock
