Any word on the experiment with Murphy at the H?

I haven't heard any more. I'm gonna bet until Steward comes back, we won't see much of it. If Steward comes back and is effective or Witter really impresses in games, I wouldn't be surprised to see Murphy line up at both during the year.

So Printz beats out Berk.....for now.

Crawford #2 at LT surprised me.

Freshmen:

Witter
Lee
Brown
Cheadle
Wilson

Little surprised no Brandon Lee at LB.

Not on depth chart obviously, but Brady and Ross are both on the roster. Assuming that means they qualified and got in and are enrolled.

Thanks for posting.

Surprised Walters got beat out by Witter, that doesn't seem to make much sense, but oh well.

I wish Berk was the number 2, with his build and experience he seems like a natural backup. Can put him in on short yardage plays, the way OU used Bell.

That said, if Mauk went down I'd like to see Printz jump from 3 to 1 and keep Berk in the same backup role.

If Pinkel does what he has always done with QB's then I suspect you will see Printz take a series every game the first four games. Then depending on situation some series during SEC play.

Me too. If not Walters over Witter, Walters over Hunt. We have 3 RB's coming in next year, so I'm not too awfully concerned about preserving a year for one of them just for the sake of preserving it.

I think they're both 2a and 2b. They probably know Berk isn't leaving and making Printz, on paper, #2 might keep him around after this year.

I guess I don't get what this has to do with my belief that Berk would offer more as a backup, while Printz would probably be the better replacement for Mauk if he goes down with an extended injury.

You mentioned using berk in certain game situations. I dont think you see that because Pinkel likes to break in young, possible future starting QB's by giving them a series. You wont see Mauk losing snaps to Berk and Printz.

I do like the experience factor with Berk, just not sure Pinkel sees it that way. Berk just hasnt ever been impressive over his career.

Gotta say, I'm still a bit surprised by Crawford's emergence on the OL. He didn't play there in the spring did he? He just moved there this summer, right?

I guess the only other names of note that don't show up that aren't necessarily a surprise are Burkett, Logan and Winston.

Over what career?

He was a FR with literally no offensive line on a bad team playing in tough games.

Last year he was hurt and written off.

The guy is huge, has game experience, has experience coming off the bench, and he performed as well as any of the top three QBs in camp.

With a smaller sized Mauk, makes sense to have the big guy back up, put him in short yard packages, use that experience coming off the bench if Mauk gets hurt in a game.

If Mauk is done for extended time, I understand, and would hope Printz gets the starts.

Berk can be a positive complimentary piece to Mauk or Printz, whoever is starting. A shame he will not be used due to politics - making sure Printz is happy.

Yep, Crawford was listed 3rd on the DT depth chart during spring camp.

Crazy stuff.

Meh, Berkstresser had his chance to prove himself. He has had time in camps and in games.

You used to say he was better than Franklin as well.

I think you overvalue Berkstresser a bit.

I think where they're listed means little if Mauk goes down. Who knows what the staff does at that point.

Personally, in the meantime, if we're talking a series or 2 per game, I'd rather give it to the youth to develop it.
