That is one year longer than Gene Stallings and substantially longer than any other coach that followed Bear Bryant. Most people thought Saban would be gone by now, but ya know... He is still in Tuscaloosa. Thought I'd point that out. Hey, Roll Tide.

And hopefully he'll still be here for a few more years.

I'm sure he won't rest until he at the very least ties Bear at 6 titles, but Saban probably wants to get to 7.

Oh you know the closer he gets to that, the more it will eat at him. Was watching the Bengals-Cardinals last night. Arizona has an assistant coach that has been coaching the NFL since Super Bowl I. Dude is 79. Blew my mind and was inspiring.

He has built a powerhouse at Bama in those 8 years. If he continues to recruit at the levels he has, more NC's are bound to come with the talent and quality coaching he has on staff.

Last year was disappointing knowing we were so close to playing for the SEC and NC. As fans, we were disappointed. Imagine how the players and coaches felt. I'm surely hoping that this season's "questions" (QB, OL, LB) get answered with better than can be hoped results.

I expect Saban to stay at Bama; however, the bar is set so high and anything less than a perfect season seems disappointing. The pressure from "spoiled" fans and boosters might be the only thing that frustrates him to the point where he'd leave coaching early.

5 more days!!

Absolutely no way this can be correct. I was told by many people that he'd leave for more money within 5yrs, that I was a total frickin' idiot to think he'd wanna call Tuscaloosa home for any significant amount of time. Are you sure?

I read on the TigerR he and Miss Terri absolutely hate Tuscaloosa. In fact, they live in Hoover. The poster claimed the Sabans' maid as his source.

Also, everyone knows CNS never stays anywhere longer than 5 years

The REC at work. Seeing how he has interviewed, house searched, and sold property every year since he has been here makes you think he hates UA.

In all my years of following sports I have never seen a person so stalked as Saban.

I 100% disagree with this sentiment. No fanbase is gonna put more pressure on him than Alabama. It's NC or bust every year.

But he wouldn't want it any other way. He's the most driven man in sports. He wants that too. He's not content with just being good, and I think the fans and boosters having that same feeling is something he loves.

There can only be one answer: life model decoy.

it will be interesting to see how much longer he sticks around. I could see him being the kind of guy that will burn himself out eventually, but I also wonder what he will do with himself without football. Eventually the game will start to pass him by a bit as it does with every coach.

I see Saban another 3 to 5 years. I do not think it is about winning the NC as much now as getting his system perfect. Meaning no weak links on the roster and proving that his system is the best.

That's always possible. But I think he's the type of coach that will adapt and change. I don't think he's so set in his ways that he wouldn't tweak things to keep winning. In the end, the same things win today, that did 80 yrs ago. Run the ball, stop the run. Do that, and you'll always win most of your games. Snyder seems to be doing pretty good for an old coach.

i don't mean it in terms of X's and O's, but at some point just the energy required to be at the top of the food chain is just too much. I don't think Joe Pa or Bobby Bowden knew less about football toward the end than they did 10 years prior, but there was just something missing.

I should have been more specific and used a better word than pressure. My thought is some crazy fan that does something threatening to him or his family (thinking brick through a window like Curry) because, heaven forbid, he lose to Auburn again or something like that. I agree that he can handle the pressure and is driven more than any other and I'm happy about that.

Well Bowden won a title when he was 70...Saban still seems to have a lot of energy so I think he still has a few more good years and acts like he still has something to prove.

Oh, definitely.

Plus with grandkids now entering his life, one big event and I could see him walking away. Like if his family had some big intervention and told him they thought football was becoming detrimental to his health. I imagine he'd like to see his grandchildren grow up.
