...how about you, Ole Miss fans?

We got some Dawgs up in here who will tell us how popular Tubs was in Starkville?

quote:

Having been the head coach at Ole Miss, Tommy Tuberville will always be viewed as a bitter enemy in Starkville. Now, that bitterness has grown to a new level after last Thursday's game and the Auburn coach's decision to fake a field goal which led to a touchdown in the closing minutes of a lopsided win over Mississippi State.

Wearing a smirk on his face the rest of the night, Tuberville came out of the game looking like an insensitive, run-it-up thug.

Continuing to run your offense is one thing. But to fake a field goal? That's downright mean-spirited.

LSU fans loved AU in the Tubs E(a)ra, amirite?

And of course, Tommy's deep reverence for the Crimson Tide was something Bama fans could always count on...

Yeah, it's really a shame how firing Tubs cost us all of that goodwill from our fellow SEC fans...

All joking aside. They were always one of the toughest, best games on the schedule.

when malzahn left chizik, lots of auburn fans were proud to be going back to a style of play like they had with tuberville

Tubs was the ultimate troll. Probably better than Spurrier at his craft.

Actually, it was mistakenly believed that getting away from the HUNH would lead us back to Tuberville-style defensive play as our offense would be more ball-control, thus keeping the D off the field more. Meanwhile, there was cautious optimism that a pro-style offense would better suit our personnel.

Instead, our offense fell apart, and our defense actually got worse.

I think I can safely say there was far more enthusiasm amongst the AU fanbase for Malzahn's return as HC than there was on his departure as OC in '11.

I've said this before, the 06 game was the hardest hitting game I've ever been to.

Yeah it overshadows the 04 10-9 game which was just as physical IMO (Jason Campbell ) but the 06 game easily had better athletes all over the place

The 2006 game was the most brutal sporting event I have ever witnessed in person.

I hated Dumbo when he was there, but during his stay, the LSU/Auburn game was one helluva of a hard hitting game every year.
