Which teams were the biggest busts? Who had the most potential but just flopped when it mattered most?
-You could probably pick any Georgia team, as they flop every single year. So how about 2007? They finally beat UF that year (put up 42 points), but they only score 12 points against a 6-6 Scar team & 14 points against garbage arse Tennessee. UGA shits the bed, nothing new.
-2006 LSU. Probably LSU's best team ever (or maybe 2nd best behind 2011). Seemed like their offense averaged 40+ppg that year, but they scored like 2 points against Auburn & UF. Think they ended up finishing 3rd or 4th in the West that year.
-2001 UF. No details necessary.
Who else?

2009 UF. So much talent, yet so undisciplined and Meyer clearly didn't give a frick about coaching.

2003 AU
Preseason #1 by some, may have been more talented than 2004 AU. Had no offensive co-ordinator after Petrino left though and no identity offensively at all.

2000 Alabama. Started #2. Ended like 3-9. Bye bye Dubose.

The 2006 LSU games against UF and Auburn were some of the most frustrating ever.
Russell could not hold onto the ball against UF and then the refs constantly fricked us over at Auburn.

That fumble on the goal line by Jamarcus in the Swamp killed y'all.

That really doesn't do it justice.
Notre Dame had no business being on that field. LSU outclassed them in every way.

Fisher's play-calling was suspect in both those losses but let's not pretend there weren't horrible road-calls in both. Also, the Tigers finished second to Ark. in the west, but defeated the Razorbacks on the road before demolishing Notre Dame in the Sugar. Finished ranked 3rd in Nation. I think 2005 was a much bigger disappointment for Tiger fans. Back to back hurricanes forced the team into a Monday night overtime loss to UT and they went undefeated until the SECCG where J.R. was injured. Due to the erratic scheduling, they wound up playing 11 games in 10 weeks. Then they destroyed Miami in the bowl with Flynn playing QB. That was definitely a huge what if season. Do agree that 2006 was one of the top 3 LSU teams ever.

Then 2 interceptions on our final 2 drives.
Also the fumble on the punt return which turned in 7 easy points for UF. Not to mention the kickoff on the 2nd half which resulted in a safety.
We had 5 fricking turnovers, not counting the safety and a blocked punt

I don't consider UGA a flop in the BCS era. We've been competitive in a tough league, and were in position to play in the title game twice. The 2002 UGA had the same credentials as several other BCS champions, including Florida 2006 and Florida 2008, LSU 2007. A two team "playoff" means that lucky timing plays a big role in who gets to the championship game.
