This might should go on the music board, but I really wanted to get a better idea of who had seen it. If you haven't, it's on NetFlix now and is a awesome doc on the history of the music recorded in the Muscle Shoals... Being that I'm from there, I was really proud of how well it was done.
For those that have, what surprised you the most and what did you like or dislike about it?

Saw it about a month ago. I'm from Florence and it's pretty cool that many big time musicians started their careers there

I loved it. It is a must watch for all music lovers. I grew up fishing around there. I had always heard about the stones, but didn't know the full story.

Excellent. The ole lady and I plan to make a trip up from Bham sometime to tour the studios.

I loved it. I already knew a lot about Muscle Shoals and the studios from just growing up around a lot of musicians. But it was great to just hear all of those guys talk about the recording sessions.
They put out some of the greatest music ever. If you ever get a chance to pick up Duane Allmans Anthology it has several cuts from different sessions when he was a studio player there.

Other than Rick Hall's upper lip, it was awesome.

The studios are worth seeing, not much at the old muscle shoals sound but it is in the process of raising money to restore it. Still a really cool place to see cause it's such a small old building that it's amazing what was recorded there. The Alabama music hall of fame is worth seeing. If you come I suggest staying at the mariott, always good music played in the swampers bar there in the evenings. Also, I'd come during wc handy week.

Haven't seen it yet, didn't even know about it.. I have picked with a few of those guys, even at birthday and pool parties and shite.

I've seen it, and being a gigging musician, of course I loved it.
Another good one is 'Standing in the Shadows of Motown', about the studio musicians that played on all the great Motown hits without much credit at all (until later years).

I watched it about a month or two ago and I thought it was great. It is one of the better non-war docs I have ever watched
