Why is Auburn disliked so much more now than in the past?

This is a serious question that is almost a spinoff of another thread where I saw several people talking about how much they rooted for Auburn when Tubbs was the coach. The doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

As an Alabama graduate, I really used to enjoy watching Auburn play, especially during the undefeated 2004 year with Cadillac, Ronnie Brown, and Jason Campbell.

It seems like over the past 4 or 5 years, the Auburn hate had really ramped up and caused the fan base (understandably so) to become very defensive leading to an never-ending cycle of defensiveness and trash-talking.

I was thinking that it could be the fact that they have been winning a lot recently, but they won a lot during the Tubbs era too. In reality, Auburn is a top-10 college program of all-time and has always had a tradition of winning. Why all the hate now? Is it Cam Newton? Chizik? Malzahn?

Is it due to the popularity of college football now? Social media?

I'm wondering why they got to keep their 1957 SEC title.

You beat teams and those fanbases hate you. It's not rocket surgery.

All Auburn fans are still wondering where Cam Newton touched all of you.

No, they didn't say that specifically. It was just a discussion on how enjoyable Tubb's teams were to watch.

They were beating those same teams before. What changed? Is it just the advent of the internet that allowed those communications to be heard?

. Why all the hate now?

Alabama: We somehow beat Saban pretty regularly in spectacular fashion. We rub it in because Bama is winning too and obnoxious

LSU: We stole some recruits from Louisiana (don't understand their hatred TBH)

UGA: Nick Fairley and they are jelly that we win it all and they are stuck with Richt

MissSt: They can never really beat us but come so close it hurts

TAMU: Bandwaggoning Gay Cheerleaders

UF: We stole Cam from them

USCe: We spoiled their only SECCG and always beat them

Tennessee: We went through the ringer and have come out on top twice. They have been going through ringer for almost 20 years. They just jelly

My guess would be our recruiting the last five years, where as the previous ten was pretty sad.

I feel like most of the hate comes from the SEC fans who are jealous that we snagged Bruce Pearl.

I don't know I disliked them more back when they were competitive.

Other teams migrate their hatred towards the team that wins the most. As a Bama fan you should understand that.

I don't understand it. Bruce Pearl is a very likable guy. I do understand other schools being jelly that he is our coach though.

Lost 4 of the last 6 to Bama
Lost 4 of the last 6 to Arkansas
Lost 6 of the last 7 to LSU
Lost 6 of the last 8 to UGA
Lost 2 of the last 2 to Vanderbilt
Lost 8 of the last 12 to Florida

I don't think it is because of what has happened on the field.

I really think that was because we didn't have a top shooter and big man on the low post. I feel pretty confident BP can turn that trend around.

I've hated Auburn since they almost lit their own stadium on fire and tried to blame it on LSU fans.

Seriously burners?
