Surprised that there is no love for the 92 bama defense. Maybe there aren't many old farts like me that remember it.

I didn't see it, but the 1961 Alabama Defense had incredible stats. Gave up 25 points for the entire season.

Defense - Tie between the 2011 and 1992 Bama defense.
Offense - 2005 USC, they could run whatever play they wanted and get positive yardage.

1992 and 2011 Bama both rank in possibly the top 3 modern era defenses. Definitely top 5.

what's so impressive is that they didn't run a hurry up, spread or use any gimmicks. leinart was a statue in the backfield and wasn't making miracles with his legs like a vy, newton, manziel etc. they could have been even better had norm chow stuck around another year.

I have always hated bama, but I went to high school with john copeland and lamanski hall from that defense, so i had to pull for them a little.

1988 AU defense best in modern SEC history.

I'm 33 and while I watched the 92 Bama team, I wasn't old enough to fully appreciate that defense. I knew they were great while watching them, I just didn't have a point of reference.
That '11 Bama team though, was as CNS said, "A hateful bunch."
