If it is deserved, and that's a good chance, we will be screwed by politics by other conferences? A 2nd place SEC team would beat a Big 12 team or a iog ten possibly.

I wonder if this has been talked about before.

doubt it given the LSU vs Bama outcry is a big reason we have a playoff now IMO

I guess he likes "Bert is Fat" threads better?

The question is, can 2 teams come from within the SEC West?

If two SEC teams are among the 4 best teams, then they should. If we get another 2011 and have two teams that are CLEARLY the best and it isn't close, it's a travesty if they leave one out because they didn't win their conference.

Depends on the names being compared. If the debate is Ohio State against say Missouri then the OSU brand probably gets them in

Under the right circumstances, yes.
However, I think the Committee will do everything possible to put in 4 conference champions. That's their marching orders and given the diversity of the group, probably the most likely outcome.

Just a hunch, but I don't think there's any way it happens this year. I think the committee will try to set a precedent this first year of not having 2 teams from any 1 conference. That being said, I think it could happen some time down the line, but I think it'll be the exception far more than the rule...

The only way it happens, is the non champion will have to have more wins. if the record is tied with any of the P5 champions, they are out.

With that said, I think if either the BIG10 or SEC champion is left out, which is possible for one of them to be left out this year; I think the playoff goes to 8 , with 5 automatics with in 2 years.

lets say UCLA, Mich St, LSU all undefeated and in. The final spot comes down to this scenario.

Oklahoma wins the Big 12 with a loss to Kansas State who has a 10-2 record. Georgia's only loss is to an undefeated LSU in the SECCG. Who goes?

No way an SEC champion gets left out in the near future.
Most other conferences are worried the SEC will get two (which I don't think will happen as well).

I seriously doubt it. The four teams needs to feature the best four conference champions with the fifth conference champion with the worst strength of schedule being left out

If there is a conference champion with 1 or no losses, a 1 loss champion from the SEC better have a marquee non conference opponent victory on that resume.

No

Not even now that Ohio State is out of the picture.

Is it possible? Yes. But the second SEC team would have to have a better record against a better schedule than any conference champions.
