We are all likely aware of Georgia's commanding series lead on Clemson (38-16-4), but how much worse has it been in Athens for the Tigers?

Pretty damn bad.

Clemson won the first two times they came to the Classic City (1903 and 1905) but since then has gone a staggering 3-23-1. You read that correctly, Clemson has exactly 3 wins in their past 27 trips to Athens.

That will have no bearing on the blocking, tackling, kicking, etc. on August 30th. I just found it pretty interesting.

I had the pleasure of being at the 2002 game in Athens. That game is a reminder of why the punt return is such a dangerous weapon and why we need to get back to being aggressive in that area instead of having backup qb's fair catch.

That was a KO return but I agree with your point.

Not that we need anymore rivalry games but did we no use to have one with these guys?

We did, it was one of the most intense and fierce rivalries in the south for a little while. We ended up not playing as often anymore and it just kinda fell off.

That too but Damian Gary ran one back for 40 in the 4th quarter to set up the game winning field goal. Our offense was pretty ineffective all day although Shockley provided a bit of a spark.

Ah, my b. I thought you meant Gibson's TD.

Greene was definitely off his game. He actually did pretty crappy IIRC. Shock had 2 TDs, one on a run off a great juke and 1 on a slant to TE, who on that play set the record for most receiving TDs in UGA history if memory serves. I know it set some sort of record.

Who knows what that 02 season would've been like if we didnt' have shock that first game. Hell, Greene looked bad (well, the whole team did actually) in week 2 against SC too. It wasn't until bama that we really started clicking against a good opponent.

It was hot and heated in the 80's. I was a young buck then.

I think the full '81 game is on Youtube.

Eric Z. had a big victory against them in '91 in Athens. Big upset as the Tigers were ranked 6th.

I'm glad to see them back on the schedule.

In the 1984 Georgia vs Clemson game, UGA Kicker Kevin Butler kicked a 60 yard field goal late in the game to give Georgia the upset victory.

I was there! Go to youtube to hear Munson's call. I don't know if I can link it here.
