This Ferguson bullshite is a prime example.

I keep seeing tweets about media members being gassed, hit with tear gas canisters, or being arrested because of very sketchy credentials etc...

Why don't they understand that by standing in a fricking riot they are subject to the exact same shite those around them are? Are they really so stupid to think that the tear gas was aimed at them and not the tPOS's rioting?

well what they should be immune from is being forced out from the scene. Media serves as a watchdog.

Well, if they'd do their jobs right that would be fine. The media blows dick.

Their badges don't mean a damn thing. They are ordinary citizens too. When told to disperse they need to listen.

These media members have blurred the line between protester and reporter in many instances.

Because many media members are stupidly self-important in their quest for a story and forget that they're not invisible or bulletproof in the midst of the action.

I've never seen a group of people look so inconvenienced after being told to move because someone was firing a gun.

They're just so dumb.

ETA: yes, I'm mad and venting.

If a man can't vent in the wee hours of the morning, when can he?

In theory yes but in reality they serve themselves and whoever owns the company they work for.

CNN is owned by Turner Broadcasting who is in the entertainment business

MSNBC is owned by NBCUniversal News Group who is in the entertainment business

Fox is owned by Fox Broadcasting Company who is in the entertainment business

I think I found the problem: entertainment vs. actual news reporting

But you can't limit the right to a free press based on TMZ.

I would argue that the major media outlets are no better than TMZ.....I agree you can't limit the right to free press.....just wish there was a truth standard they had to live up to.

Who would enforce that? Laws enacted by politicians on non-lying speech? Wouldn't hold my breath.

I'm not suggesting that a truth standard be a law.....think of it as a media moral.

media has no morals. If they did they would get left in the dust by other companies.

Probably because they are not held accountable. This is what's wrong with the media today. They used to report news, now they feel they have to create it. Outrageous headlines and such. Make stories seem intriguing and such, regardless of any truth or facts.
