There was a thread on the Rant LINK referring to this article. Note that some folks had difficulty separating "iconic" from "coolest" or "best"...

The 10:

10) USC
09) Florida
08) LSU
07) Ohio St.
06) Nebraska
05) Texas
04) Michigan
03) Notre Dame
02) Penn St.
01) Alabama

LINK

As I posted on the Rant version, I don't think Florida should be on that list; I think UGA has a much better claim. Go look at the photos on my post here LINK and see if you agree

I think Florida's are, because whenever you see them you know it's the Gators on TV.

While many other schools have toyed around with alternate jerseys, or gone with a modern spin on their uniforms, the Crimson Tide have kept their kits virtually the same through the years. Their uniforms are as much a part of Alabama’s rich football tradition as on-field success, and we would be shocked if they go through any major changes in the near future. Roll Tide. No. 1, yet again.

Hard to argue with that list. Though I would list Georgia, Auburn and UT has having iconic uniforms.

I view iconic as having very strong brand recongnition around their look, feel and design. Also the fact that the standard design has remained more or less the same for many years.

Notre Dame too many experiments to be iconic. Auburn and Oklahoma should certainly be on the list.

Remove Florida , tOSU (since they have been doing all the Nike pro combat stuff lately), & Nebraska

Add Auburn, Georgia, & OU.

Edit: removed UCLA

That's why I say no to Florida. Spurrier's uniform looks nothing like Tebow's, and neither of theirs looks like Emmitt Smith's. Yet in the 3 photos I used as examples, it was obvious the opponent was Georgia, and you really couldn't see any difference the the Bulldog's gear.

I don't see how you can put Bama's uniform (or anyone else) ahead of Michigan's either. Bama might be recognizable along the lines of Penn St, LSU or Nebraska, but you have to take a split second to be sure that isn't, say, Oklahoma;

while the winged helmet and maize pants are instantaneously recognized.

Penn St, Michigan, and LSU are most iconic to me... outside of UT of course in my biased opinion.

for the uni's or the upset? Real question. I do know that Delaware (or was it Delaware State) has that helmet, can't think of anyone else on the college level that does.
