Of course that title is in jest but an earlier conversation with someone from Pennsylvania reminded me why I defend our state so. Most of the criticism was lodged towards Texas (who can blame) but clearly, at least to this person, we are all racist assholes who want nothing but the status quo antebellum. The only thing worse than being stuck in Texas, (in one of the best jobs in the field mind you) would be having to be stuck in Arkansas. Does anyone else encounter these yahoos?

Except for an incredibly small minority, everyone in Bentonville is a carpetbagger. The majority of them are surprised how great Bentonville and NWA are and a lot of them like it here. There are some (mostly young, single professionals) who want a faster pace but most love it here. Specially those who are raising families.

Is it bad that I completely understand what you just wrote.

To be fair.. I generally assume that people who actually use the term carpetbaggers are racist assholes.

To be fair.. I generally assume that people who call people racists assholes are too judgmental and need Allah in their life.

To be fair to you, that's why I said I jest about the phrasing. That and I had earlier watched Hell on Wheels in which the term was being used heavily. It is not in my common vernacular but the point I was making remains.

I have another friend from Michigan who desperately needs a job. There is a new opening in South Carolina (Columbia) and I emailed it to him as he had said he was willing to move anywhere. He replied that he could never live somewhere so racist. I asked had he been there and be said no, but he knows how it is down there.

Anyway, the assumptions just get tiring...

Ironical. Sounds like he needs to drive around his own state.

It's cool bacon, I am not trying over generalize. The distinction is someone who feels the south sucks in all things comparatively. If someone moves down or up and over or a where and appreciates what's good while recognizing no place or person is perfect then this conversation would not be necessary.

I'd agree with that. Except now that we are gonna have whataburger up here, I dunno if I'm gonna need Texas for anything other thans the lastros, texans and rockets.

And you'd be wrong to make that assumption.

But why would you go to feltners when you can go to CJ's?
Plus I like Texas whataburger for it's breakfast burritos at 11pm.
