Just had a great convo with Dudley. He said that the thing we were missing last year was Lacey. He said that even though he was overweight and lazy, his 14-20 points a game were crucial because we had no one to replace them and Trev couldn't do it himself. He said that Pettway is excited and we have a lot more scorers so we shouldn't have the droughts and close out games a lot better.

I hope Dudley has been helping Taylor this summer. If he can turn out to be half as good as his cousin, we can have a good team along with more scoring options like you mentioned.

He said that he has gotten stronger and a little bigger.

Good. Maybe we will actually feed him the ball this year.

Umm,
we don't have either Trevor here this year.
Undoubtedly, the loss of Trevor Releford will result in several more losses off a losing record team.
The backcourt has plenty of growing up to do.

He said that between Coleman and Tarrant we should be fine, hopefully. Adding Varidel to that will only make the scoring better. If Hale can improve on what he gave us last year we should score 60+ easily

Well you replace Releford with a a guy who was CUSA Freshmen of the year and finally give him a capable backup. It really shouldn't be a drop with two guys there.

Tarrant killed us in Colemon. Hopefully the upperclass guys step up and be more consistent and less timid to shoot the open shot.

Only had one Trevor last year.

One player does not make a team. Bama had a better season the year after Mo Williams left. Same can be said about the last good PG Bama had, Mikhail Torrance.

This is not possible.

You do realize this isn't the same team minus Trevor, right? Over half of our current team didn't play for us last year...

He's a lover scorned. He means well but Grant has hurt him much like he's hurt all of us.

So we lost our best player and are having to break in a bunch of new ones. I'm not seeing where all the optimism is coming from.

Hopefully the team will be good. OTOH I also hope they do poorly so we can be rid of Grant. It's a win-win season for me.

Well we will have two guys who were both All Conference guys in their previous conferences that have already practiced with our team for a year. Our optimism is with hoping guys like Levi, Retin, and Cooper all finally take a step forward and our 4 freshmen and Varidel acclimate quickly. I mean the on paper talent is there.

This is college basketball. New players are the best players on the team most of the time. Plus with the guys weve added we should be a more balanced team.

Two of the new guys were here last year, but had to sit out. 5 of the 7 newcomers are good to great shooters which is something we've sorely missed since Grant's arrival. Plus the biggest difference which seems to get overlooked is the fact that we had just 9 scholarship players last year, one of which barely played because he was clearly not high-major material. Just having the depth to play man instead of just zone will help tremendously.

We have more depth and more scoring and that is a lot to be excited about.

If we go 2-0 in our tournament and beat Xavier on the road, I think I'd probably die of a heart attack.
