Florida's gigantic population is misleading due to the fact that most residents are geriatric patients. These are the numbers that matter most when looking at recruiting & per capita for D1 & NFL players by state.

- Ranked below by state population of black kids, 18 & under:

1). Texas - 950,000
2). Georgia - 800,000
3). Florida - 650,000
4). Louisiana - 350,000
5). Alabama - 325,000
6). SCar - 280,000
7). Miss - 278,000
8). Tenn - 255,000
9). Mizzou - 168,000
10). Kentucky - 120,000
11). Arkansas - 115,000

(for reference)
New York - 790,000
California - 602,000
Ohio - 360,000

How LSU & UGA aren't winning the NC every year (with no instate competition) is beyond me.

States ranked by NFL players per capita:

1). Florida (1 in every 3,494 residents)
2). Texas (1 in 5,163)
3). Scar (1 in 5,185)
4). Louisiana (1 in 5,645)
5). Alabama (1 in 6,750)
6). Mizzou (1 in 7,000)
7). Kentucky (1 in 7,059)
8). Arkansas (1 in 7,188)
9). Tennessee (1 in 7,286)
10). Georgia (1 in 8,421)
11). Mississippi (1 in 8,688)

Interesante. So all the times Mississippi tried to claim being #1 in the country per capita, they are actually dead last in tSEC.

California (1 in 2,676) Damn!!
Ohio (1 in 4,865)
New York (1 in 28,214)

This is from the 2012 signing class (D1 signees). Florida leading the way with 1 in every 119 high school players signing a D1 football scholarship

We must see Midwestern and northeastern numbers in order to give this any relative meaning.

In other words ... how do those numbers compare to other states in other regions?

"in-state competition" is the most outdated concept in college football recruiting. Imaginary lines don't make a difference to 18 year olds

You have to look at the demographics in Texas to understand.

Texas is only 12% black and most of that population is in East Texas and the DFW and Houston Metros. The further South, West, or North you go the fewer blacks in the State. Of course 12% of the Texas population is still over 3 million people so it's all relative.

You're claiming Florida is not?

You've obviously never been to Florida.

South Florida IS Latino ... Latino and African-American.

Texas has a huge population (over 26mill), but they only have a 13% black population. Louisiana & Georgia have 32% black population.

Florida does not share a border with Mexico is all I'm saying. South Florida might be Latino, but most of Texas already is.
