You can't go wrong with Toyota. Looking at either a Highlander or Rav4 for my wife as well.

Or Sequoia or 4Runner.

Depends on her size, if y'all have how many kids or not, and if you intend to use it as the family take vacation vehicle or not.

We've been through three Sequoias around here after having two 4Runners before that and the Sequoias are the bomb IMHO.

Best of all worlds. Plenty of low mileage pre-owned ones out there too if you choose to save yourself a bunch of money.

I'd get a Q5 over a Highlander.

A white Range Rover really drive home that "I'm richer than you" look, if she's into that.

You can get a Q5 and Highlander for roughly the same price.

2011 Highlander

2011 Q5

52' Luhrs, weekly trips from Athens to Cabo.

But seriously, 14' jb at the moment. Local use at electric only reservoirs. But if i wanted to buy a pontoon boat or a skiff i would want the suv to handle it.

could be a problem for some. make sure you check the tow rating. And if the trips would be any distance, get a full size or at least put an aux trans cooler on it

Mine was always around $150? I'm actually trying to find another LR4. Wish I'd never gotten rid of the last one.

Quick look at the towing capacity of the SUV's discussed here (2014 models): (source: Edmunds.com)
Highlander: 1,500lbs (Older models are listed at 3,500lbs. Not sure why the sharp decrease).
Tucson:2,000lbs
Q5: 4,400lbs
Santa Fe: 5,000lbs

Frame weight and gear ratio's along with stopping power go into those ratings. Better gas mileage = lower tow cap.

Current rig is 600#'s fully loaded with trailer weight included.

get into an accident while towing something above the vehicle rating and see what your insurance company does.

Braking and cooling also go into the ratings
