Updated Championship Odds at Bovada: Alabama 5/1, FSU 11/2, Oregon 8/1, Auburn/Oklahoma 9/1, OSU 10/1, UGA/UCLA 14/1

Because FSU always plays a monster OOC schedule.
WVU beat OKST last year.

Really though if we played their soft schedule with crap OOC every year then I might have to agree.

FSU played what was easily the weakest schedule of any national champion of the BCS era, so they have no room to talk.
But seriously, I am not sure why we are currently picked to win the title right now. QB is too much of a question mark to be considered the favorite IMO. I think we will be there at the end of it, but right now, it is a bit unjustified.

This position doesn't matter in our offense as much as it does with others.

If we're gonna get the ball to Cooper, White, Jones, Foster, Black, Howard, and Drake in the passing game it matters. I'm prepared to say that not utilizing them to the best of their abilities would be a monumental waste of talent.

I would like a qb that can be high percentage in the short passing game to get the ball in the hands of a playmaker. We will occasionally throw deep when the D cheats up.
JPW went 12-0 in the regular season in Sabans 2nd season.
GMac had a 14-0 natty.
AJ was the best of the 3 winning 2 straight titles and had three 11-1 regular seasons. In a 4 team playoff format I imagine a 1 loss Bama would get in.
Our supporting cast is good enough that all our QB needs to do is protect the ball. If we have 0 or 1 turnover in a game we will be difficult to beat.

What a way to finish off a NC run. AU(IB), USC(SECCG), OU(Semi), FSU(NC) 15-0
Part of me would love to see OSU in the NC and make Urban retire again. But I doubt they will make it in unless the SEC implodes and eats their own all season.

That is my ideal season. Crush an unbeaten AU's title hopes in the IB, finally get revenge on HBC in Atlanta, shut up Stoops and the Sooners in the Semis, and remind FSU that Bama is the top program to win the title.

No improvement can be made to this post.

All this plus, make Winston look so bad that he goes undrafted in the NFL and becomes a career A baseball player.

After four or five games I expect this defensive line to be one of our best ever lines. They just need to gel, the talent is there.
We are going to run the ball more than in the last two years, going back to basics and chewing the clock up while resting our defense.

Agreed. Though with how WVU's line is shaping up, they may have a field day in the opener.

I sort of agree and sort of don't. We won't chew clock as much as people think, imo. Ryan Kelly said a few months back we're not going HUNH, but the pace is faster than it has been before. I think we'll be looking for more big plays. Fits in with a lot of how we're setting up.
Get up big on em quick and make em pass. Then straight up unleash that monster front 7 on the QB while they're passing almost every down.
Don't get me wrong, we'll still have great t.o.p numbers, but I think this is a statement year for Saban.
Just my take on it. Could be way off.

I think Saban is going to practice it to have it as an option in some games. But when we are playing HUNH teams I don't think we use it. Ot would be counter productive.
I think Saban wants to be able to mix it up, but at the same time ram the ball down the throats of teams who try and speed it up
Sabans biggest problem, imho, with TAMU was he didn't bring heat enough. Blitz the runing gaps.

Yeah, we didn't get enough pressure on Manziel. The mush rush just doesn't work like it used to.

It still matters...especially against a team like Auburn where we're going to have to put points on the board to win. We can't just roll a warm body out there and win a title.
