What's going on with the high level recruits in Florida? How come only a few have committed? Are they waiting to see how UF does before they do?

Of course. Every coach in the country recruiting kids that we are is negative recruiting Boom like a mofo. It's all fair in love and recruiting.

We have a good season our class will be great. WE have a meh season there's still a chance for a really good class assuming some offensive progress. We tank, the class tanks and Boom is gone. It's pretty simple you smelly mutt.

It is weird how most of our commits are from out of state, our only (4 I believe) florida commits are only 3 stars, while all of our higher ranked guys are from elsewhere.

CeCe and Ivey are waiting to see how UF does.

Cowart could pop for UF within next 2 months.

Campbell might commit to FSU in next few weeks.

Watch for Miami's RB situation. They will have deflections there.

Thanks fellas. I was just looking at the top ten for a few states and noticed that Florida only had a few commits compared to the others.

Florida kids aren't die hard loyal to Florida schools. It's much different than Georgia kids where most of them are indoctrinated to go to UG from the time they are born. Some of it is cultural and some of it is because we have FSU and Miami to share fans with.

It sucks but it is what it is. We get very few die hard Gator fans to commit any longer.

I wish that was true about Georgia kids and UGA. It's really not any different than Florida kids, especially the Atlanta kids

That was before the 1990's. Since we've had our population boom, especially Metro Atlanta we don't have that connection and kids don't feel like they have to go to UGA. Now, Louisiana has that. That's one of the reasons we can't close the border. All the friggin transplants here.

I'll have to disagree if only for the fact that we have to share with FSU and Miami. That's a huge difference.

You don't often lose guys you want to GT, Ga State, Southern or Valdosta. We do lose very good recruits to FSU and Miami.

Also, way too many good recruits here pick UG. There's no loyalty to the state at all like Bama, LSU and GA.

You also have twice the population we do and we're a lot closer to other big time schools. But each school has their struggles they have to over come.

True, though much of that isn't football material. Cubans aren't very big for the most part.

I was talking about it in the sense of players being tied to the in-state schools. Georgia and Florida players are both pretty open to out of state schools generally

we have twice the population (about 9-10 million more residents), but we only have about 1m more kids under 18 years old. Y'all have about 2.5m under 18 while we have about 3.5 here in Florida.

Eta: looks like we have just over 4mill actually

Eta2: looks like Georgia actually has more black kids under 18 than Florida (800,000 to about 650,000). I'm gonna start a thread on this cause it interests me.

????? Road...have you followed recruiting? Georgia recruits leave in huge numbers out of state...to UF, Bama, AU, USC, UT etc etc. They have lost a lot more talent than we have.

Quite the contrary, UF has a LOT of fervent Gator fans in high schools since we are the state flagship. We lose some Gator recruits due to positions being full or the system not suited for their talents etc etc. What you don't hear is that often Gator coaches actually stop recruiting some kids because of attitudes and other issues. Then fans think we lost out on Johnny Hotshot when actually we didn't want him. Next thing you know he is kicked off some other team or arrested.

The state of Florida has seen numerous kids leave the state over the past few years that Florida wanted. In fact, I am not even going to list off all the names. Top kids that UF wanted have all left the state for LSU, Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina. That is just off the top of my head.
