I know, another link to click. Not a bad read, though. I can't help but get excited about the defense, and especially the secondary.

“If you want to create turnovers you have to practice turnovers,” Pruitt said on the day he was introduced as Georgia’s defensive coordinator. “There’s more to it. You can put yourself in position to finish on an interception but you’ve got to actually catch the ball, you’ve got to watch it all the way to the tub. When the ball is on the ground you’ve got to secure it, you’ve got to get your hands underneath the ball and you’ve got to recover a fumble. There are a lot of details to it that I think get overlooked.”

Early this preseason, Pruitt laid it out in simple terms on increasing interceptions: “If you’re not in the right position, it’s going to be hard to play the ball. I’d say you’ve got to be close to the guy they’re throwing it to if you’re going to get one of them.”

Good read. Hopefully this lowers the chance of any targeting penalties our guys could get.

I'm all for Pruitt and think he's Zeus in human form but I have a hard time believing that Grantham and Lakatos weren't teaching the exact same thing.

From the quotes I've seen from the players and the reports that are out there, I don't think it's as much of WHAT is being taught as it is HOW it's being taught. I do think that possibly the fundamentals are being stressed more in a positive way. Granthem came from the NFL and he was used to players supposedly having the fundamental base to perform as professionals, kids coming out of high school are raw and maybe lacking from high school coaching some of the basic fundamentals that it takes. Whatever the difference it seems to have not only the fans but the players excited about being there and I for one am pumped!!

Not what is being taught, but how. And how it's emphasized.
Not saying I'm in the know, but based on what I've been reading, players have stated this has been the main difference in their coaching styles.

I think they taught to play the ball as well but our guys were so out of position that it wasn't even possible half the time.

Grantham taught them to wave their hands in the air in hopes that the resulting current of air would alter the flight of the ball.

Seriously that's a joke, but on a bunch of 3rd down plays, it really seemed that way
