To understand the rivalry, one must first understand the heat.
The University of South Carolina rests in the state capital, Columbia, a city that brands itself "Famously Hot." About 100 miles to the west, Clemson makes its home at Memorial Stadium [not Nebraska's, the other one], known simply as "Death Valley." [not LSU's, the other one]

Look at the last three years as proof. South Carolina is 33-6 and Clemson is 32-8 in that stretch. The only two matchups that can claim more combined wins since 2011 are Alabama-LSU and Stanford-Oregon. Those two games might be bigger in stature, but the in-state factor isn't at work.
"It's neighbor against neighbor, brother against brother, father against daughter, mother against son," Clemson play-by-play man Don Munson said. "So many families, the mom or dad graduated from Clemson, but the son or daughter — because of the degree the school offers — is going to South Carolina. The blood is beginning to mix a little bit, and folks are saying, 'Hey, what's going on here?'"

An emerging rivalry couldn't have picked a worse time to hit the national news cycle. Less than 24 hours after Ron Artest incited the "Malice at the Palace," college football's ugliest on-field brawl erupted. Punches — and helmets — were thrown. Both teams rejected postseason bowl bids. South Carolina coach Lou Holtz retired. The boiling point reached,
In other words, the heat is on. Get your boiled peanuts ready.

snapshots of Gamecocks' insurrection. That's South Carolina quarterback Mike Hold taunting Clemson's William "The Refrigerator" Perry by holding the football with an outstretched arm as time expired in a 22-21 upset in 1984. Or Steve Taneyhill, known to so many as "the Yankee with the mullet," pretending to sign the Clemson paw at midfield after leading South Carolina to a 24-13 shocker in 1992. Look between the draft beer taps at any number of local Columbia establishments. Chances are one of those front pages hangs on the wall.

Spurrier and Dabo's banter back and forth over the last several years plus both schools playing good football makes the State a winner for both programs because it is keeping our programs in the national spotlight

Being a pilgrim in an unholy land I will take that FWIW..but I like to think I am a fair and realistic poster that doesn't wear homer-vision to terribly bad.
I am looking forward to a good season for both programs...We all win when both schools are doing well

tldr but I have always thought that rivalry exceeded uga-tech and uf-fsu.
I didn't fully appreciate it until I live in MP for three years.

Why are you still here after your post (on the SECr) about hoping we (South Carolina football team) loses a bunch of players to injury in the A&M game?
::::: sighhhhh :::::
nevermind - frick it.
Times are changing I guess. No borders anymore. Sooner or later there will be beheadings in this country and everyone will be asking, wtf happened?
It all starts just like this. Let everyone in. Open the doors up and let everyone in.

Spurrier trolling and Dabo biting you mean.
Five in a row. Soon to be six. How that's good for Clemson, I dunno. lulz
But I like it and hope it continues forever.
Nothing does unfortunately.
But I may live long enough to see the series pulled even at this rate.

Rooster, i often think about you in real life. I will be knee deep in some bullshite and think to myself "someday i will be like scrooster, chillin at the waffle house, big dicking withmybuddies about football" and it motivates me to work harder so i can be happy some day too.

Okay, as long as your scared and you admit that you're scared, I guess that makes it okay then.
You're forgiven.

I was there in 2012.
I had a cock friend/host with a badass tailgate in the new tailgate area, pregame was awesome.
He was passed out by half time and escorted back to his vehicle.
After the game, i went back to the tailgate to find him in the throws of death on the ground, and then i knew me and wife were on our own.
What a shitty experience we had.
Put yourself in my shoes.
As i said in the sc prev thread, im not hoping for career ending injuries.

I hate those death throws. They throw you for a loop.....a loop of death. But how can death be a loop: it's an ending, but a loop is forever never-ending. Oh well.......I got thrown off the topic...

I have to tell you that buff-sniffers are pretty low rent for the most part. I found it extremely disturbing how happy they were that a player (Zac Brooks) got hurt for the year...Don't get me wrong, I love seeing a player get his bell rung so he will be fearful of footsteps but to cheer for a player getting serious hurt is low class for any fan base. I like a fun and spirited sports chat, but that lot on the Ga boards is pretty low class.
