Urban Meyer: Cam Newton Didn't Have "It" Factor at QB (video link)

According to Cam, after his unfortunate incident at UF his father and he had a conversation with Urban in which he wished him well but advised him that his future might be at another position as he did not possess the "it" factor to play QB.
Cam then vowed to make Urban eat his words. Wonder how that turned out

Well Judging by his Heisman and National Title winning QBs maybe Meyer thinks the "It" factor for a QB is integrity. You'd have to ask him if he thinks Winston has "it".

Urban's eyes were still blinded by Tebow's Jesus Juice to see Cam for the dynamic playmaker that he was.

Just because he had what ended up being a Jesus Christ clone at QB doesn't mean it was Urban's character judgement that led to him being at UF.

How do you think Hernandez does in jail? Does he run shite? Is he raped constantly? Is he in Gen pop or Iso?

I'm sorry did Hernandez play QB. Besides Urban's problem with players is that he was too trusting and too forgiving probably because he came in as a disciplinarian and a hard arse and then the Avery Atkins tragedy happened and because he cares so much (seriously, the guys problem is that he can't detach if Kick 6 happened to Meyer he'd play it over and over and over again on a 35mm reel like Ray Finkle in Ace Ventura) he kept player he probably shouldn't have because he didn't want to lose another one.
People who mention Hernandez without also bringing up Atkins don't get it.
Additionally, can someone freaking tell me why Hernandez reflects badly on Meyer and UF where there's no evidence committed any murders or really any crimes other than a fight or two, but not on say Bill Belicheck and the Patriots who not only drafted him but also after having him for a couple of years and presumably knowing a little more about him decided to re-sign him for tens of millions of dollars.

I think he's probably Alpha there. Honestly, he's probably not hating it too much. That seems to be the environment he wanted to be a part of.

Well at least we know now why Urban cried and whined throughout the entire 2010 season. He had to watch the guy he kicked to the curb take over the CFB world
We also now know why Cam really left Florida. Urban's history has shown he wouldn't have let a minor laptop theft be the reason he kicked Cam off the team. He likely believed he had better options than Cam and could afford to show him the door

Well that's as good an excuse as any. I'd take your word for it if he weren't at Ohio State now. I call BS. He saw recruiting mishaps, a tough conference, and a college great at QB heading to the NFL. He bitched out.

Its honestly a pretty huge factor, look at Meyer's willingness to crack down on players before Avery died and then afterwards its like after that he wasn't going to lose a player if he thought he had any chance at all to reach them, even if it made him look bad and he took a hit in reputation-- hell, it wasn't even (or mostly) on the field play-- he gave Ronnie Wilson multiple chances despite the fact he never (or barely) cracked the two-deep. The only thing Meyer had essentially a zero tolerance policy on post Atkins was physical violence against women.

He's a junkie, junkie's aren't rational about their addictions, he thought he could quit football, hell in 2010 he tried coaching part time, but he just couldn't do it, he took some time off and probably thinks he's okay now but watch give it 5 years he'll probably burn out again.

Probably because they are trying to reconstruct a new history of the situation that shines more favorable than the truth. The truth is he was a cheater and a thief. He chose UF over AU and only ended up at second chance qb-u because he was a cheater and thief. If he hadn't been a cheater and a thief he would have stayed at Florida. It is what it is but you can see how deep down that doesn't sit well with them. So they have to project something else and try to reposition the discussion.
