A&M and LSU fans, first let me inform you that this post isn't a flame. It's formed from pure curiosity.

First, why was Johnny Manziel so unsuccessful against LSU? As an outsider, I'll admit that I didn't get to see all of Texas A&M's games...just a handful against Alabama, Auburn, and LSU. But, I noticed that he consistently struggled (and lost) against LSU.

2012: Passing = 29/56 (51%) 276 yards 0 touchdowns 3 interceptions. Rushing = 17 carries 27 yards 0 touchdowns.

2013: Passing = 16/41 (39%) 224 yards 1 touchdown 2 interceptions. Rushing = 12 carries 54 yards 0 touchdowns.

So, his combined totals against LSU are:

Passing: 45/97 (46%). 500 yards. 1 touchdown. 5 interceptions.

Rushing: 29 carries. 81 yards.

That's down right horrible. He threw for a good bit of yards, but I'm not sure if it was junk time, slinging the ball yards.

What was the deal? LSU has a good defense, but come on? They aren't the Seattle Seahawks. Is there another school that Manziel had similar performances against?

John Chavis was able to scheme for him and A&M couldn't make the adjustments

Extremely fast and athletic linemen.

And they didn't collapse the pocket and allow him to escape.

LSU had the speed and technique tackling to stop him.. Chavis had a great game plan that they executed well.

A&M also abandoned the run game both times putting it all on Johnny. I think we had 6 handoffs in 2013

This. Johnny made his living using his athleticism to wait on some kind of breakdown by the Defense and exploit it. LSU played a less aggressive game against him limiting the breakdowns.

Again, LSU fans, don't freak out ( ), but was LSU's line even good this past year? I don't remember hearing much from them at all outside of the Ferguson kid. Like I said, that isn't a flame considering LSU just throws them in the NFL (Spears, Tyson Jackson, Dorsey, Kyle Williams, Lavalais, Mingo, etc). I just assumed that LSU's line was depleted after the 2012 season.

Did South Carolina, Auburn, or Alabama have similar success? They have exceptionally (especially South Carolina and Auburn) fast linemen and linebackers (Clowney, Dee Ford, and many others).

We have the ends to close his running area. LSU has speed from the line all the way to the safeties where most teams wil have one quick lineman we have light but fast lineman. That's out scheme. That's why unless we have a gritty middle linebacker we won't be effective at stopping the run straight at you offenses.

On top of what was already said, the weather conditions were pretty bad in and there were injuries question marks in '13.

This. We contained the pocket and the ends stayed home all game.
