These are the years and the opponents.

1991 - Temple, Chattanooga, Tulane, Memphis
1992 - Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech, Tulane
1993 - Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss
1994 - Chattanooga, Tulane, Southern Miss
1995 - Southern Miss, NC State, North Texas
1996 - Bowling Green, Southern Miss, NC State
1997 - Houston, Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech
1998 - BYU, East Carolina, Southern Miss
1999 - Houston, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss

Compared to the 1980s when Alabama was playing Penn State every year and mixing in teams like Texas A&M, Boston College, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech. In 1986 Alabama played Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Penn State.

Outside of one decent opponent a year, our non-conference schedule has been terrible for a while.

The addition of another potential SEC game in 1992.

The one game is what sets it apart though, and we didnt have that one game in the nineties.
