Which means he is DEFINITELY gone. Sucks. Loved the energy and potential, very much a KA program kinda player. Had to be a trouble incident with the law or team rules to happen at this stage.

Bottom line now the whole question whether Jakeenan Gant is a small forward or power forward in our program is at least partially answered, he's gonna have to give at least some power forward minutes now. JW3/Gant at power forward and Rosburg/Post at center. In a way it works out since with Montaque Gill-Caesar we just added much more depth at small forward that was otherwise gonna make for some crowding at that spot between him, Gant and Beidschid. Not now. Even if Gant proves to be more of a small forward type, he'll have to "play big" for now like English did in 2012.

Lets start the pool now.

I'll take pothead as the infraction.

Little nugget for the "Screw Frank Haith" crowd of which we know this board has plenty:

During his Mizzou tenure, Haith and his staff signed a total of 8 true freshmen players. Only 3 of them are left, and none of the departures were due to the player going pro.

#Mizzou announces that PF Torren Jones has been dismissed from the team for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Good news, as far as I'm concerned.

No explanation given except he broke an unspecified team rule.

I thought Jones could be an outstanding role player.

It sucks but we need to get rid of the Haith guys with the exception of JW3 and Clark.

I was a Torren Jones fan. Liked his energy though he was raw. Having said that, wouldn't be a huge loss. Would rather have him but can live without him.

I think it works. We'll have to wait and see but I have to believe Gant can defend underneath and I think he can create match up problems by stretching the opponent's defender on the other end. Read my mind with the English comparison, though he may not be as polished outside as a freshman as English was as a senior obviously. Isn't Gant a little taller too?

JW3, Clark and who? Was Rosburg a Haith signing? I can't remember that far back.

Rosburg was Haith's first recruit if I remember correctly.

Wonder what the team rule was. Dismissal seems pretty harsh.

I have no idea what the team rule was. I wouldn't be surprised one bit though if KA was trying to also send a message, and a strong message at that by the words he used about Jones. He wanted a clear message that the Criswell crap, the Clark/Rector smoking dope, the Ross/Price BS wasn't going to be tolerated and that a new day is here at Mizzou. So I have no problem if he was sending a pretty harsh message in order to clean up, maintain a clean program.

Rule 84(B)(II)(a)(ix) "If a player is not expected to contribute significantly in the first two years of a new coach's tenure, his scholarship will be needed for future recruits. Actual reason for dismissal will be found at appropriate time."

I hear ya, but something tells me it was something more serious. If that "rule" were being invoked, KA would have actually said less than he did. Actually going out of his way to say he was disappointed in Jones tells me maybe something more serious involved. If you're just processing players, you simply say violated team rules without the disappointed comment.
