Rewatching Arkansas Game from 2013

Into 2nd quarter and man they gashed us right up the middle. Specifically they ran at Nosa. When Wright and Blackson were in they struggled to move the line.
Also Holland was terrible in this game. They got some yards from him just not filling gap correctly or getting mauled.
Their defense was no match for us. We did what we wanted too. I don't see that changing in 2014

They're gonna get some yards on the ground and with dump offs to that huge TE. Like you said though, their defense is gonna get raped.

We are gonna smoke them...they'll get their yards on the ground but we will demolish them in the final score

That thread is a clusterfrick holy crap lol
They ran the ball well on us but usually it was when Holland and Nosa were in. I don't see that same success this year and they don't have the talent at WR to scare us. I don't think it will be a huge blowout but similar to last year where its obvious who the better team is and wins comfortably

"We got better as the season progressed.
We were a 6-6 type team last year, three plays away from a bowl game in Bielema's first season. The only real impact player we lost was our center.
If we had Auburn in Fayetteville to start the season, I would pick us to win straight up, but the fact that it's on the road makes it a tossup."
lulz

meh
let them have their hope, why even go to their board?
I don't go to other teams' boards unless there is some breaking news story about that team

I agree. Its a waste of time to go to another teams board you dont care about or any team board besides your own.

The biggest thing that jumps out at me from this game is how terrible of a color commentator Matt Millen. The play by play was bad too with names but Millen just repeats himself over and over and lends no insight to the game really at all.
Basically Arkansas's possession is what made this game not get so ugly. The dominated the time of possession but couldn't score. I am hoping this season our D gets a few more 3 and outs so we can jump on opponents. UGA game was only time I remember us really forcing 3 and outs immediately but our offense didn't put in the endzone. I have a feeling at least one time this year against a highly ranked opponent we are going to jump out to a 21 pt lead before anyone realizes what happened if defense and offense are both clicking

Mason's rushing stats from the game.
ATT YDS AVG TDS
32 168 5.25 4
Over or Under our starting back does better in the opener?

Under but only because I think both Payne and Grant both go for over 100. I think those guys will even out on carries as season goes on

I would agree. Let's try this. Here is our offensive output against Arkansas last season. How do you predict this season will be compared to last season's?
Rush Pass Plays Total Yards Avg
233 133 55 366 6.65

AU ran the fewest plays all season bec of that snail pace that Bret runs at.
That means we will have fewer possessoins and will need TDs and not FGs.

What we need to do is score early and often. Force them out of the running game and let our DL pin their ears back and meet at the QB. I remember one of our DL saying, after the season, that the Arky game was the most physical game all year.

Dee Ford said that.
If we can get up by 14 early and get 3 tds by half, the game is over. They are not built for fast comebacks

I am hoping for more plays because our defense gets quicker stops. I see more big plays in passing game especially early in game and then we lay on them in the 2nd half with run so maybe something like
Rush - 210
Pass - 250
Plays - 65
Total - 460
Yards Avg - 7.1
That seems kind of high now looking at it but I really think this is going to be an explosive offense. The key to dominating this game in my opinion is get the 3 and outs early and put them in a hole they have to throw out of. If they have to abandon the ground and pound early it will be a rout. If they eat up clock then I see a very similar game to last season

THIS
If we let them hang around where they can keep running the ball with those 3 backs then game will be closer. If we stop run early and put some points on the board it will get ugly as they don't have much to fear at WR and Allen is ok but not someone like Tyler Wilson or Mallett that will put up 400 yds on us in the air

They actually ran their game plan to perfection (kept possession, got first downs running up the middle, held our explosive plays in check for the most part). And they still lost by 18 at home

I haven't been to Arky's board, but I'd bet they're just as delusional as we were before last season. Going 3-9 screws with your perception of reality. I remember rationalizing that if a couple plays went our way last season we'd be 6-6.
The reality -at least from what I've seen on the rant- is that Arkansas fans see huge potential in this game, simply because it helps them immensely in momentum this season. If they don't, eh, what changes? I would be swinging for the fences too.

This is my thoughts on it as well. Had a gameplan and executed it almost perfectly, and still got beat by 18.
