This large bull shark might have thought it was safe to go back in the water. But he didn’t count on Brutus, Adelaide River’s most famous and fearsome resident, who showed the shark who was the true king of the waterway.

The 5.5-metre croc has become an international sensation, one of the Top End’s biggest tourist drawcards and a frequent star of the NT News.

Brutus, who is thought to be more than 80 years old, is also known for his missing front leg. The story goes that the limb was lost in a shark attack.

quote:

“We’d fed Brutus on the bank earlier and were coming back past and we saw something in his mouth,” Mr Paice said.

“The shark was still alive. Brutus took the shark back into the water and then started to shake it around a bit.

“He then went back into the mangroves like he was protecting his prey.”

That's a big arse Croc.

Depends on the size of the shark and croc in question.

And species. In most cases I'd probably side with the shark

That second pic is amazing.
One, that thing is ginormous!
Two, that guy holding that stick might soon end up looking like that croc with his arm out there like that.

As if they weren't already scary enough, crocs can actually run pretty well too.

That thing is 18 feet long. Thats a freaking dinosaur.

And how long do crocs live? if that thing is 80 years old, it looks pretty spry to me. Does it still breed? If so...respect!

Just one more reason to never get in the damn water. I saw that and decided to never go to Australia.

They have ten times more dangerous animals in Australia than we have here.

Only two sharks in existence can kill a croc of that size: a large tiger shark and a great white, and a tiger shark is much more likely to encounter a estuarine croc than a great white. I'd say in water over 4 meters depth the tiger shark wins, in water 2 to 3 the croc might have an advantage.
