Quinton Dunbar the forgotten receiver

I feel as if, with all the talk about D-Rob, Fulwood, McGee, and Debose that people are overlooking Dunbar. Here we have a guy who is a 5th year senior, caught a nice little 83 yarder against UG, grabbed 40 receptions last year in a bad offense. I also read this little stat about him
I can definitely see Dunbar having a big year.
quote:
Has caught a pass in 28-straight games, dating back to the game against Furman in 2011. During that span, he has totaled 82 catches for 1,031 yards and 6 touchdowns…His streak of 28-straight games with a catch is a school record, surpassing Carlos Alvarez’s streak of 25 games from 1969-71
I can definitely see Dunbar having a big year.

Dunbar just isn't a natural WR to me.

Breaking a Carlos Alvarez record is still pretty impressive to me.

Dunbar is just about the worst deep ball WR I think I have ever seen. And that's OK. Some people can judge a ball in the air. I was just about the worst high school right fielder of all time, literally, in all baseball history, but that didn't mean I wasn't a decent 2nd baseman.
He is a fair intermediate and short route WR, and he is pretty reliable catching the ball. He is also tough and strong and a good blocker.
He has a chance, in this quick pass offense, to put up some good numbers on intermediate routes, but he will never be like Crowder at Duke, because he just can't catch the deep ball.

So im guessing he is probably going to be our go-to possession receiver.

Dunbar hurt his shoulder blocking for other wrs in 2012...he is actually a gamebreaker with his speed and elusiveness...this years offense will play to his strong suit. He has run a lot of fly sweeps and risks injury due to his stature..but he is tough.
Between him, Fulwood, DRob, CThompson, CJ, Debose and others...I love our wr corp....Fulwood & DRob will command attention and open up the run game. If we get superior TE play then we will be lethal.

Everybody (message board wise) has been mentioning Chris Thompson and I haven't read one single thing about him other then he is a quality depth guy at WR. He must be an absolute practice warrior and the good word is getting out.

Pretty much, I'm not as worried about that group. McGee will be really interestibg to watch. Hope he can really be a force at TE

Have heard nothing but great things about this guy so far.

I remember reading KT giving him a lot of praise so far. Definitely like the guy's skill set, though.

He caught a 35 yd td in practice tonight. I could see him being Driskels safety valve throughout the season.

I wanna see our TE wide open down the middle for 15-20 yd pass plays and watch him catch it in stride taking a couple defenders five extra yds.

Dunbar will be more productive than Debose IMO. Possibly most productive WR, possibly second if DRob lives up to his hype.

Watching the replays of the Chick fil A bowl game and the TE for Duke was very very active. He was wide open on wheel routes on the sidelines and also in the middle of the field.

He will probably be more productive, but I would bet money he doesn't catch too much deep stuff.

Well, unless Jeff gets better at the long ball, I don't think that many receivers will catch many deep balls. It's okay because #speedinspace

Jeff is pretty good at throwing long...most fans have short memories. Jeff will garner a lot more accolades after this year is over...the bullcrap bashing by the short sighted will stop...ditto Boom.
We should be very thankful to have Jeff as a QB and Boom as our coach. Anybody who thinks differently can kiss my grits.
