So I got a response from my NYC area cable company, RCN, about the SEC Network. I've been bugging them for months asking if they were going to get it. Today they messaged me:

quote:

“ocelot - Thank you so much for the kind words. They are much appreciated.

We would hate to see you leave !! , so I wanted to let you know that RCN is launching the SEC Network on August 14, 2014.

The SEC Network will be on Premiere Sports tier. Channel 385 SD and Channel 573 HD in NY.

Once again, thank you for the positive review and for being an RCN customer.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at x@x.net.

Jessica”

Sure enough, getsecnetwork.com now confirms that RCN is a provider. Not sure what this brings the total coverage to, but RCN is in NYC, Boston, DC, Chicago, etc.

You would think that would put us over the 100 mark.

That would be fairly incredible.

Ok, I looked and this deserves another bump:

quote:

RCN offers cable internet service to an area covering over 3.8 million people, making it the 10th largest provider of cable broadband in the U.S. by coverage area.

SOURCE

I mean, it is all out of state rate but

That puts the total at 95-ish million covered so far.

Wonder how the Yanks will take to our delightful southern ways? Then again, piss on em.

I've been able to watch any/all games I've wanted since I moved to NYC. Don't think they aren't exposed up here. Tons of SEC/Big 12/ACC Alumni groups that probably demand pretty good college sports programming.

The SEC early games were always on MSG.
