I've never drank and not for some religious reason. Never had a good enough reason to do so. When people drink, they're not themselves. They're a different person when they drink, which means they're being fake and not real. I personally prefer real to fake.

So why should I or anybody else drink?

I'm looking for a legit, wise/smart reason to drink alcohol. Not some stupid, weak reason like liquid courage, dull the pain, or because it makes you look cool.

I wouldn't say people are fake. They're just a less inhibited version of themselves.

A few drinks in moderation after a hard days work can be very relaxing.

I'm pretty sure studies have shown that people who drink in moderation tend to live longer than those who don't.

Sometimes it helps just to take the edge off.

Or maybe the inebriated person is the real person and the sober person is the fake.

BOOM.

And often way more honest. But im not going to give you any reasons to drink alcohol. That should be your own choice. Its not that big of a deal either way.

I'm guessing you're probably not in the work force. Sometimes it's nice to do something different when a good portion of your daily life is spent working or doing the same thing.

Sometimes it's nice to shut the brain off, or at least give it a break.

Just my opinion.

If you're entering the business world, a lot of business is done over food and drink. If you don't have a drink your clients might think you are a former alcoholic. Or you might make them feel bad about their own drinking, making them want to spend less time with you and sour the deal. Conversely, if you have no tolerance and drink only on such occasions, you may get too buzzed and make an arse of yourself.

If you do get into business with drinkers and want to blend in, talk privately with the waitress of bartender and tell them to hit you with tonics and limes and keep them coming. Most will just assume you're drinking a vodka tonic.

One or two drinks is very pleasant. It relaxes you, aids digestion, and is a pleasant social custom that facilitates bonding. You're absolutely wrong about people being fake...if anything, alcohol removes inhibitions exposing true feelings more readily.

Because it's healthy to drink in moderation.
It improves your libido.
It can have a positive effect on your cognitive ability.
It reduces the risk of heart attacks, breast cancer, diabetes, prostate cancer, etc.
Tons of reasons.

You've never fired up the grill or smoker on a football Saturday and knocked back a couple of beers while watching the game? Dude...... Kill yourself or make this happen this fall.

Because it's fun.

Don't get me wrong, people go too far with it all the time. IMO however there are few things better than a nice buzz on a cool fall Saturday while tailgating.
