Then once you put that together, what is your plan if you are Pruitt trying to prepare?

Morris: Try to establish the run. We're smaller up front than we were. Running the ball is paramount to success. Use Watson based on his development, even if it's just to scramble every now and then. Try to gash a green secondary with big throws and misdirection plays.

Pruitt: Dat pass rush. Watson can move, so we'll account for that, surely. Control the line of scrimmage. Force turnovers if you can.

Misdirection
Try to set the edges
Draws\screens
Play action
They won't run up the middle on us.
Pruitt had a great gameplan for them last year. More than anything, I want to see how Pruitt makes adjustments and how aggressive he gets.

Agreed. They will use a lot of motion with the WRs, jet sweeps, and that forward pass/handoff...then look deep if the CBs are biting or looking confused

Different offense, different defense. Different everything. Not Applicable.

It's ok for yall to dig in and get your hands dirty on this topic.... that's the intended purpose.

Didn't Watson break his collarbone? Stoudt will have to be pretty good in his first career start, and they'll have to establish at least the threat of an inside running game.

If it rains, you better believe Clemson is going to put everyone in the box.

I could honestly see a low scoring affair if starts to pour.

After watching Clemson in the Orange Bowl during the Greygatch Preview Extravaganza, it's clear what Morris is going to do with that gimmick offense.

First we must take an inventory, Donald Rumsfeld style.

Known Knowns- Tajh Boyd is gone and Stoudt was likely their 3rd string QB, Kelly was kicked off team and Watson is hurt. QB Stoudt is unlikely to be as mobile as Boyd, and is unlikely to be as effective of a passer, having little experience and little confidence from his coaches, having been 3rd choice last year behind Boyd and Kelly. And probably Watson.

Known Unknowns- We don't know how good Clemson's receivers are going to be. We can assume that none of them will be as good as Sammy Watkins unless we believe they have 2 or 3 more first round picks on their roster. It is a safe assumption they don't, because it is a safe assumption that no college team has 2 or 3 first round receivers currently on their team, as that would be a rare feat.

Unknown Knowns- There are things we know about Clemson's offense that we don't know that we know, later in hindsight we'll see we knew a few things that we didn't acknowledge knowing now.

Unknown Unknowns- There are things we know that we don't know, we know that we don't know how good the receivers are going to be. We know that we don't know how good their offensive line is going to be, and we know that we don't know how well-conditioned they will be running the hurry-up in the heat. We'll see on Saturday some things we didn't even know we didn't know.

I'd run a 2-5-4 with Bailey* and Thornton in a 3 point stance lined up directly on the guards. The 5 linebackers Jenkins, Carter, Herrera, Floyd, and Wilson roving around the line, left right, back and forth, confusing Stoudt so he doesn't know what call to make in his zone read.

When Morris calls trips make sure the bubble screen is covered by bringing the free safety up, forcing Stoudt back into the zone read.

We'll stay in man coverage with the free safety in a Cover 1 and Wilson in the robber position over the middle, unless Wilson is the one called to blitz, then Floyd is the robber. Floyd is a better matchup for a tight end anyway. Morris will inevitably run a post, a go, and a wheel route out of trips left to let Stoudt throw away from whereever our free safety goes on that play, but that takes a couple of seconds to develop and Stoudt isnt going to have that kind of time against the Deeprig Rover D.

With the DRD, we can't go wrong in this game.

If Watson comes in and demonstrates legit mobility, the only adjustment in the DRD is to have Wilson drop back into robber ONLY after he visually sees Watson drop back to pass. Count on a few freshman errors and pressure to create the turnovers we'll need to make this the blowout it should be.

It will not surprise me at all to see Watson in this game early.

If Im Morris, then I have to start with what I know. I know that I will have a first time starting QB going on the road. I know that there is some uncertainty at the offensive line, and running back spots. I know that I have nice potential at my wide receiver spots. Looking at Georgia, I know that they have one of the best pass rushes in the nation, and that there is a lot of newcomers in the secondary.

Now that I know this, I want to get my quarterback comfortable early, and get my playmakers at wide receiver the chance to make plays. I would start off with short passes, screens to the wide receivers, and passes to the backs. I also want to try and establish the passing game, but I might be unsure of our offensive line going up against Georgia's front seven. This is where misdirection comes in. Jet sweeps, draws, quick pitches, and quarterback reads are what I would focus on in the first quarter.

Hopefully(Morris' thinking), Stoudt will have gotten into a descent rhythm after the first couple of drives. This is when I try and open the playbook a little more. I want to try and confuse Georgia's young secondary. Stack receivers to one side, use a lot of motion, and have multiple receivers run their routes through the same zones. If I can confuse the secondary, then I should have a lot of easily completable passes in the 10-15 yard range. Also, knowing how aggressive Georgia will be, I will want to hit the seams early and often with my tight end.

If Im Pruitt, then I am going to want to play to my strengths, but I also know that Clemson will expect that from me. I would use my new "star" position early and often. I want my two starting corners to play their normal positions, and I do not want to blitz my linebackers too much, like Clemson will expect. Thats where the "Star" comes in. I would move Sanders/Green all over the field early, trying to confuse Stoudt, and then send him early and often. This will allow me to keep at least one outside linebacker in his position to cover the flats, because we all know Clemson will want to get Stoudt easy passes. Once the tone is set, I will then start to throw everything at Stoudt. Send Floyd and Jenkins from every possible spot, and use the "Star" to cover those areas. I do not want to bring my safeties up, if I do not have to. I want to keep them in a two deep zone, so Clemson does not have the option of going over the top, and I want help for the corners. If our outside linebackers and the "Star" can keep Clemson from getting YAC yards, then they will be playing right into Pruitt's hands.

Swing passes and screens to build my QBs confidence in a hostile environment and to force the UGA DBs to make tackles in space. Allow your play makers to create big gains out of short passes. Once the young secondary has crept up to stop the short pass, go over top an air it the frick out.

If you're Pruitt, you keep the pressure dialed up and pray to Jesus that your team can tackle.

Clemson: Test the crap out of UGA's secondary, especially whoever is playing opposite to Swann. Take some shots to quiet the crowd and get on the board early. Hope and pray that UGA's secondary is as inept as last season. Exploit overpursuit by UGA.

UGA: Pressure, pressure, pressure. Who has edge rushers on both sides like UGA? Who has a comparable linebacking corps, inside and out? Use it to disrupt.
